Review: Shadow Bound (Shadow, #1) by Erin Kellison

Shadow Bound

Death… Some people will do anything to avoid it. Even trade their immortal souls for endless existence.

Wraiths… Secretly, inexorably, they are infiltrating our world, sucking the essence out of unsuspecting victims with their hideous parody of a kiss.

Segue… Adam Thorne founded the Institute to study and destroy his monster of a brother, but the key to its success is held in the pale, slender hand of a woman on the run. There is something hauntingly different about Talia O’Brien, her unknowing sensuality, her uncanny way of slipping into Shadow.

Twilight… This is the place between life and what comes after—a dark forest of fantasy, filled with beauty, peril, mystery. And Talia is about to open the door.

I got this book as part of the Dark and Dangerous, Six-in-One Hot Paranormal Romances Boxed Set.

4 Stars ~ Shadow Bound (Shadow #1)
by Erin Kellison

This is my first time reading Erin KellisonShadow Bound is the first book in her Shadow series. I want to point out that this is no light and fluffy PNR. It’s a slightly darker and edger PNR. I found myself liking it, then having a hard time finishing, then back to I couldn’t put it down. I had such a back and forth; because it’s a darker PNR. Not the light and fluffy stuff I enjoyShadow Bound gives us Haunting Love, Loss, Sundered Love, Action and Adventure. The ending was superb!

My thoughts on Shadow Bound.

Wow! The world building is exceptional. The fantasy is a darker quality along the lines of gloomy. The author draws us into a world with hopeless situations with just a glimpse of hope here and there to carry use to the next exciting thing. The twists and turns that happen are dramatic.

Erin Kellison put’s here characters through the ringer at almost every turn. The loss that happens in Shadow Bound is heartbreaking. The trills and tribulations Talia and Adam go through are agonizing. The author draws use into there pain and struggles making use feel so much for them and hoping everything works out.

The romance was a little flat between Talia and Adam. Adam is controlling a little to obsessive and Talia comes off fragile, almost needy, and does not seem to stand on her own two feet.

Shadow Bound is an amazing read for fans of the darker PNR. The wording flows, the world building was exceptional, and the characters struggles heart-rending. After reading this book I have to go back to a little light fluffy easy PNR just to clear my mind.

We also get a peak into book 2 Shadow Fall in the Shadow series…
