Passions flare when the cold moon rises…

Kelly: a normal college girl, who knows what she wants—to survive her final exams, and find someone to share her life with. Studying with Jacob is becoming too hot to handle; she’s falling for him, but he’s going too fast…

Jacob: a not-so-typical frat guy, who hides a secret—he’s a werewolf. Whenever the moon is high, he’s driven to shed his human form and satisfy his powerful desires. He craves Kelly, but she’s pushing him away…

Fallout: Jacob can smell Kelly’s arousal, but she insists she doesn’t want sex. A wolf can only take so much before his natural instincts win out. When the tension between them explodes, Jacob has no choice but to walk…

Kidnapped! Kelly is abducted by evil scientists who’ve mistaken her for a female werecat and, despite their differences, Jacob has to try and find her. But it’s a race against time and the lunar tides. The scientists have taken Kelly to their lab and turned her into a shapeshifter for real. The full moon is rising, and soon neither Kelly nor Jacob will be able to control their inner beasts. Who knows what the consequences will be when they are consumed by unquenchable animal lust…

Cold Moon Rising is a novella #1.5 in the Cry Wolf series by Sarah Mäkelä. I new this would be a short read, but wow I was not expecting the ending. Cliffhanger! Now I want to know what happens next with Jacob and Kelly.

We get some undercover scientific/militant group trying to create a supper solder buy capturing shifters and doing who knows what with them. I’m think this might be a set up for future conflict in the series. We get a hot sex scene, a great adrenaline rush run to be free, and a little humor. I had a wonderful laugh at the twilight reference. I also enjoyed the mixed narrative. It was clear who you where reading about. POV style. I liked Jacob and Kelly. Kelly was a little quick to cast blame on Jacob. Jacob is such a good guy and he put himself in harms way to rescue the one women he can’t live without.

All I can say is this story was to short and left me with a dramatic cliffhanger that I’m hanging here wanting to know what happens to Jacob and Kelly. I hope the author gives the rest of their story. Nice quick read.

  1. Oh! I didn’t realize that this novella was out already; it looks like I have some catching up to do. I’m not liking that there’s a cliffhanger in it though, that seems a little cruel for a short story… Happy Friday, Angela!

    • The cliffhanger in this short story was unexpected and not what I like to find in any short. It left me wanting their full story. I’m guess it’s a set up for book 2. I have the Wolf Who Played With Fire (Cry Wolf #2) in ebook, just real life has gotten in the way of reading… Thanks for stoping by Carmel always good to hear from you. Happy Friday to you too..
