Emily didn’t want to go watch a bunch of bikers fight each other, and by the time the fight is over, her best friend is shot dead and Emily finds herself clutching the leather cut of a sexy guy named Gaige as she’s on the back of his motorcycle, escaping gunfire.
As Vice President of Back Down Devil MC, Gaige Gaen’s world is consumed by the club, the life, and finding a way to make it all work. The last thing he needs on his plate – or in his bed – is a woman like Emily. He can’t stop looking at her, and he definitely can’t stop touching her. He promises to avenge the death of Emily’s best friend, Rachel, but then the situation takes a turn for the worse when Rachel’s father – a rich man hell bent on revenge – shows up and wants answers that the MC doesn’t have.
Emily is in fear of returning to a past she had escaped. She and Gaige can’t seem to stop their feelings for each other, and as her dangerous past digs its way into the present, Gaige and Back Down Devil are now in the line of fire.
The war in Emily and Gaige’s hearts rage on, but the war outside needs to be fought… the question is, who is going to make it out alive?
What Makes Bad Boys so Appealing?
The appeal of bad boys is the notion that they are bad and sexy… and they can protect you. There’s nothing like knowing someone would perhaps hurt someone else in your honor. I can’t explain why it’s awesome, but it is. Plus, bad boys always comes with deep seeded scars and tons of flaws. And face it, we all have flaws and we connect with one another because of those flaws. I know for me, it’s also the idea of saving a bad boy, right? Someone so bad and sexy that you want to be there to perhaps change them a little.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
As far as writing Back Down Devil, the inspiration came to me wanting to create something that gritty and romantic at the same time. I wanted to bring in men and women who were both flawed. I wanted to shock my characters with the notion of the MC but also the notion of romance being real. I wanted to write something that moved fast and felt real. Writing the series so far has been so entertaining for myself, it’s amazing. I normally go into a series with a detailed outline and kind of go step by step. I did go in with an outline here but it was a loose one. I had characters and plots. Then I just ran with it. I opened the first book with action and I had Gaige and Emily meet within a tragedy. The whole idea was to tug at emotions while setting up the chance for romance.
The best part of the books and series are the times when the smoke clears and the guy is alone with the girl. The outside world is dangerous and perhaps falling apart, but nothing matters more than the person in front of you. Not to mention the idea that anyone could die at anytime. It just makes everything better… hotter… more romantic.
