Tainted from birth, Harley lives a life cloaked in darkness and temptation. She resists the lure of her evil legacy by holding the memory of her ghostly savior close. Every night without him is agony. She fantasizes about him and yearns for his body, but he’s not the protector or lover she’s envisioned. He’s a Hunter bred to eliminate her kind. He’s also her only hope of salvation.

Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, was created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court. For a millennium, he’s sacrificed to ensure the horrid creatures remain in the Underworld, but his strength wanes. He must rely on his enemy’s daughter to save him, but he doesn’t expect the intensity of their lust or love. Her touch calms his wild nature and ignites his carnal desires. He’ll risk all to save her, but doing so forces him to make the ultimate sacrifice, one that’ll damn him to suffer forever in his own living hell.

~ 4 Wild Hunter Stars ~

Hunter Betrayed is book one in the Wild Hunt series by Nancy Corrigan. It grabbed me right from the start and kept me entertained.  We get action, wonderful steamy scenes and an fascinating plot. Lots of fabulous supernatural creatures from dark fairies, demons, and all kinds of beings of the Underworld including it’s Lord.

Calan, a horseman, has been imprisoned for over a millennia. He is all alpha male. Harley, half bred fay, that has lived with death following her everywhere. Neither of them where created out of love, but maybe they can find love with each other.

Hunter Betrayed is an insta-love storyline. As I’ve said before I’m not always a fan of insta-love unless the author can do it justice. Ms. Corrigan did a suitable job making the insta-love work. The book starts off in the past over a millennia ago and works it’s way to present day. I really enjoyed the plot development, the things we learn about the Huntsman, their father, and the hot sizzling sex kept me engrossed. I really liked how the author portrayed the Huntsman. I can’t wait to learn more about them. I also enjoyed the description of the Huntsman’s father; in that he is not “inherently bad nor is he evil simply the god chosen to rule over hell.” Hell is different then what we would think. I liked how the author did this.

As for the lead characters. Calan I was drawn into his character the moment he was introduced to us. He is Alpha threw and threw. I just loved his Alphaness. The sexy was fantastic and written to make you hot and steamy. Oh baby! Hawt! Ms. Corrigan can write a sex scene. What did not work for me was Harley the heroine. I could not connect to her, she felt flat, not much depth in her character and the woe is me about who her father is and the evil inside herself got old fast. I wanted to smack her at times and tell her to get over herself. She has no control over who her father is, but she can control herself. I had a hard time picturing Harley and Calan together, I felt like she did not complement him enough. At the end thou Harley sorta redeemed herself to me, not fully, but I was in tears when she started to show a backbone and a need to sacrifice something for those she loves.

Ms. Corrigan has created a sensual sexy read. I am interested to see where things go in the plot and to learn more about the Huntsman. If you’re looking for a steamy paranormal romance grab this one.
