Julia MillsI am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters, a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the stories running through her brain.

I read my first book, Dr Suess’ Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked. I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy!

I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it.

What Inspired You to Write About Dragon Shifters

First of all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE hot alpha guys!!! Did I mention I really LOVE HOT ALPHA MEN? heeheehee Okay, now that we have that established, I also seriously dig dragons and decided that there needed to be a group of SUPER ALPHA, SUPER SEXY MEN that could change into DRAGONS. I gave them the qualities I want in a man, I wanted them to be courteous, honest, generous, courageous, loyal, just, discreet, wise, brave and honorable. And I wanted to love their woman like no other. Hence, the Dragon Guard was born and I have to say none of my men have let me down!

About the Book (1)

SBHD-3dSaved by Her Dragon

by Julia Mills

There Are No Coincidences…
Devon’s heritage has given him a unique perspective into the world around him. His father was one of the fiercest Guardsmen in history and his mother is a very talented and highly respected Healer. At the age of his transformation he made the choice to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a Guardsman but in his heart he always carried the belief and wisdom of his mother’s clan. That knowledge and his complete trust in Destiny may be all that saves the One the Universe made for him.

The Universe Does Not Make Mistakes…
Orphaned as a child and raised by powerful Earth witches, Anya Sloane thought her life was pretty normal and relatively happy until the night she left the family farm and headed into town. Abducted and left for dead outside the hospital, she spent the better part of a month fighting her way out of a magically induced coma only to wake and find everything she’d ever knew was little more than smoke and mirrors.

Fate Will Not Be Denied…
Anya is the light of his soul and the only woman able to tame the beast within. Devon has the strength and knowledge she will need in the coming days. Together, they just may be the key to saving Dragon kin. All they have to do is defeat the traitor…but that means they have to find him first.

ARC Saved by Her Dragon

Saved by Her Dragon is book five in the Dragon Guards series by Julia Mills. I have only read Her Dragon To Slay #1 and Her Dragon’s Fire #2; before I picked this one up for review. This book can be read as a stand alone, but best read in order. I felt like I was missing some things reading this one out of order and was a little lost at the beginning even with reading the first two books, so I will be going back and reading the others to get a full feel of the Dragon Guards world.

Devon is the white dragon of the Clan. Anya is something special. I enjoyed both these characters.

Saved by Her Dragon does not have as much fighting and action in this book as the others. Andrew is still their and up to his wicked ways planning vengeance towards his brethren and all who helped them. I was intrigued in how the author developed Devon and Anya’s relationship. These two where perfectly matched for each other. It was different to read about them not having sex until their matting ceremony, which was new and I liked how the author portrayed their mating as being much more then just a normal mating in that it has a significant impact for everyone. Ms. Mills also added some surprise development/twist and I’m very curious to see how this plays out and to learn more. I loved the little girl Sydney! I really need to read the book where she comes into play, because she was just adorable and I’m so curious about her and her abilities.

I enjoyed this story, seeing how Devon and Anya came together, and finding out how special Anya truly is. This is a fun adventure. If you enjoy reading about dragons I recommend giving this series a try. We have some very sexy dragon shifters, interesting plot, characters, and world that keep us entertained.

The thought had barely made it through her mind when Devon stopped in the doorway, looked over his shoulder with a fire burning in his eyes that hadn’t been there before, and said “OH, I will see all of you, m’fhiorghra’ but only when you have the strength for what comes next.” He winked and exited the room, leaving Anya more breathless and aroused than before.

She soaked in the miraculous tub, enjoying the heat of the water and the feel of the herbs working the soreness from her muscles, invigorating her tired body. Wanting to get her hair washed before the water cooled, she turned on the water and attempted to situate herself under the faucet. As she shifted onto her knees, Anya realized a second too late that the bottom of the tub was more slippery than she thought. Her butt went one way, her knees the other, and without warning she slid under the water with an audible yelp!

Before Anya could resurface, two large hands were pulling her from the water as she spit and sputtered warm soapy water in a most unladylike fashion. Embarrassment damn near overwhelmed her as she refused to open her eyes, simply feeling around for the hand towel she knew was on the side of the tub. Devon’s hand met hers as he handed her the cloth and the same electric charge as before ran through her system, landing squarely in her womb. The sound of water pouring into the tub stopped.

After she had wiped her face, Anya sat perfectly still, eyes squeezed shut. She prayed Devon would just leave her in peace, to die of embarrassment. Instead, he spoke, “Are you okay, a chumann?”

She heard the smile in his voice and the thought of simply sinking under the water again bounced around her brain, but she figured he would just fish her out, so she answered, “Yes, I’m fine.” Anya knew she sounded like a petulant child and Devon’s bark of laughter only served to confirm her thoughts.

“What were you trying to do?”

She pouted a moment longer before answering, “I wanted to wash my hair but the tub was slippery. My top half zigged when my bottom half zagged and well…you know the rest.”

“Are you gonna open your eyes?”

“Please?” She could hear him trying to hold back a laugh and bit the inside of her cheeks to keep from smiling. She was embarrassed…not flirting with the irresistible man that had once again saved her silly ass.

“Nope.” She worked hard to say that one word without laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.

  1. I really like Christine Warren’s Heart of Stone and her Others series.

  2. Oh that’s a bit of a pant. Love those dragon shifters. I’m all for hot alpha males and the combo even better 😀

  3. My favorite shifter series right now is Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound – maybe because it’s the one I most recently read (or reread in this case). However, Christine Warren’s Other series has some awesome shifters as does Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. ^_^

  4. Shelly Laurenston has some great one to read.but my favorite are the Christine Feehan vampire/Shifters in her Carpathian Novels

  5. I love Michelle M. Pillow’s Dragon Lords series and the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs.
