Top 5 Reasons to Love Heather
Thank you so much for joining me! I’m happy to be here at Angel’s Guilty Pleasures, celebrating the release of SHADOWS STRIKE, the sixth book in my Immortal Guardians series. (If you’re new to the series, don’t worry. The books can be read as stand alones. You’ll just be more familiar with the secondary characters if you read them in order.) Today I thought I would help you get to know Heather, the heroine, by giving you five reasons Ethan fell in love with her.
1
She has a great sense of humor
He grimaced. “Hell. I probably shouldn’t have mentioned my age, should I?”
“Relax. You don’t look a day over sixty.”
Sixty!
She burst into laughter and patted his knee. “I’m just kidding. You know you’re hot.”
Ethan groaned. “You’re evil.”
“And you’re tired. Why don’t you sleep for a bit. I signed the confidentiality agreement, so you don’t have to worry about me trying to sneak pictures of your fangs and calling all the news outlets while you rest.”
Smiling, he shook his head. “And what will you do while I sleep?”
“Find a permanent marker and draw a mustache and bushy eyebrows on your face.”
He laughed. “I really like you, Heather.”
2
She has the same insecurities so many of us do
He raised his eyebrows and sent her an encouraging smile. “What?”
Heather loosed a miserable sigh and mentally cursed every man she had ever dated. “You’re perfect,” she declared and cringed when it emerged almost as an accusation.
He grinned. “And you’re not?”
“No, I’m not,” she said. “Trust me when I say I’m aware of every single one of my flaws because my damned telepathy allowed me to hear past boyfriends mentally catalog them.”
All levity fled his handsome, perfect features. “I don’t understand. What flaws? I don’t see any.”
“You will when I’m naked,” she muttered, hating the insecurity instilled in her by the men of her past.
3
She’s honest
“I like you. Okay? I mean I really, really like you, Ethan. I wasn’t lying when I told you I’ve never in my life felt this strong a connection to someone. I’ve never felt this comfortable with someone, even family, as if I could say or do anything . . . like complain about you having a bug up your butt when you look positively murderous.”
He did smile then.
“You make me laugh,” she said. “You’re smart. You’re fun to talk to. You make my heart race and are the best lover I’ve ever had.” Her voice softened. “It would be so easy to fall in love with you.”

She’s brave and—even when terrified—doesn’t back down from a fight
Another window shattered, behind them this time.
Heather grunted.
Heart stopping, Ethan sliced at his two foremost opponents and spun around.
A vampire had come up behind Heather and locked his arms around her. As Ethan turned, the vampire lowered his head and buried his fangs in her neck.
Heather cried out. Pain and tears filled the brown eyes that met and held his.
A vampire’s bite didn’t generate the erotic pleasure found in so many movies and books. Instead, it would have felt like someone had just stabbed Heather with two large needles.
As Ethan took a step toward her, she jerked the hand holding her weapon up, pressed the barrel to the vampire’s forehead, and fired.
5
But she can still be flustered
Zach released a beleaguered sigh. In the next instant, his form melted into that of a huge lion as empty clothing fell to the floor.
“Holy sh**!” Heather scrambled backward off the bed, keeping a death grip on the sheet.
Ethan threw up a hand. “It’s okay, Heather. It’s okay.”
Lisette buried the fingers of one hand in the lion’s thick, dark mane.
His paws planted on the clothing Zach had been wearing, the lion turned his big-ass head and rubbed it against Lisette’s chest.
Heather pointed a shaking finger at the beast. “He just . . . I mean, he just . . . He was . . .”
The lion shifted back into Zach.
Heather got a brief glimpse of the elder’s naked body before the clothes at his feet covered him as though he had never removed them. Her eyes bugged. “Y-you . . . you . . . you . . . and then . . . huge lion . . .”
Zach raised his eyebrows, lips twitching.
“Seriously?” she blurted in a near shout. “You can do that?”
The immortals all laughed.
Shadows Strikes
The Immortal Guardians protect the innocent in secret. Sometimes the secret gets out…
U.S. law enforcement agent Heather Lane can read minds. But not the future. The dream of battle and blood that recurs every night must be a fluke, some obscure terror from her own mind. What its significance might be, she can’t guess: an attack from seven psychotic vampires at once, only separated from nightmare by an eighth very different immortal. A handsome, brave man fighting at her side, a man she misses when she wakes.
Then the dream comes true. Heather is flung into a war between predators and protectors of humanity, the man from her dreams beside her again. Except now that she’s awake, she isn’t sure she can trust Ethan, or the shadow organization he represents. The U.S. military doesn’t trust either of them. But against an onslaught of evil like the one that’s coming, it will take everything they have just to survive…
