Happy New Year & New Year Resolutions For 2016

Goodbye to 2015

Hello to 2016!

Happy New Year 2016 Messages Wishes

I hope everyone has a safe and fun New Year!

From: Angela @ Angel’s Guilty Pleasures

Now lets take a look back at my 2015 New Year’s Resolutions:

  1. Limit myself to two one-clicks a month. I am notorious for one-clicking free books and books that are on sale. (This will probably go out the window, but I plan to try)
  2. I plan to read two books each month I have one-clicked or bought on my Kindle/Nook that I’ve not read yet. (Most books on my devices are free, so I really need to clean them up)
  3. Post less spotlight tours and more reviews. (I was trying to get the hang of blogging and ended up getting myself into to much promoting books/authors I’ve not read. I want to get back to the books and authors I enjoy.)
  4. Finish or get caught up on series(s) I have started. (Guardians of Eternity, Black Knights, INC., Night Huntress)
  5. Limit the amount of books I review from authors. (It’s great getting free books/ARC(s), but I’ve had a tendency to over stretch myself and not read what I want because I promised to read so and so.)

Number 1: Went out the window asap. Let’s face it I’m a book hoarder. Nothing will ever limit my book purchasing whether they are free books or ones I buy. This image sums it up nicely:

Number 2: I FAILED miserably. I started off so good on this one with Jan reading 5 books & Feb reading 2, but then March came and well it just stopped. =/

Number 3: I really should have not even bothered making this a resolution. I was just getting started in 2014 with blogging, so I had no really base for this. I looked back at all my Book Tours/Spotlights in 2014 and I had a total of 131. In 2015 I had a total of 244. I did do more Guest Post & Interviews with my Spotlights/Book Tours then just a plan old Spotlight in 2015, but I have no really solid way to track this since I consider my Interviews & Guest Post as part of a Spotlight. Lesson learned.

Number 4: I finished Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy in 2015. WOOT!! I also found a wonderful reading challenge: The Series That Never Ends and I did the Black Knights, INC by Julie Ann Walker for the challenge. I am all caught up and ready for more Black Knights, INC. Unfortunately; I still have not finished Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost. I have the last book in the series. I keep meaning to do a re-read, so I’m all fresh, but then a new book comes out or a review copy comes in. It’s a must in 2016 to finish.

Number 5: I did pretty well in limiting my review requests from authors, NetGalley or other. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m satisfied with this last year.

New Years Resolutions 2016
Ok, these will have to do with the blog and books!

  1. I must read the last and final book in the Night Huntress series (Up from the Grave). I’ve had this book since the day it came out, but I just keep putting it off. I’ve got a nice 2016 Reading Challenge – Finishing the Series Challenge, which will help me complete this task.
  2. Start the Guild Hunter series. I’ve been meaning to read this series for a very long time. This is also part of my 2016 Reading Challenge – Finishing the Series Challenge.
  3. Continue to limit the amount of books I review from authors or requesting off NetGalley. I did well on this. I did not over stress myself and stuck to the authors I have reviewed for before.
  4. Try to nock of several of the books I’ve previous purchased, but have not read. This is read or DNF them. This 2016 Read My Own Dame Books Challenge, will help me accomplish this goal.
  5. Pick up more books from the Library!

  2. I’m bad about one clicking those free books too. I really try to limit the sale ones, but I have a few of them too, most at $0.99. I love the Guild Hunter series. I think you’ll love it too. I also liked the ending of the Night Huntress. Can’t wait to see your thoughts. Good luck on your other resolutions.

    • Ya those freebies and $.99c deals get me every time. I really try, but it’s just so hard especially when you think you are getting a great deal. I know a lot of book bloggers who have love the Guild Hunters. Thank you for stoping in. I hope I can accomplish my New Years Resolutions in books for 2016
