Sunday Post/BB&B #94

Another week has gone bye and I am participating in the Caffeinated Book Reviewer Sunday Post, where we recap the past week on the blog, things to come, showcase books & giveaways plus much more.

I am also participating in BB&B/Stacking The Shelves. The BB&B is inspired by The Story Siren, Talk Supe, Pop Culture Junkie, and Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, wither they are bought, borrowed, bagged (Won or Gifted). It can be physical or virtual additions to your shelves.

I rang in the New Year by being sick and am still battling the bug. It just doesn’t want to clear up. This week was uneventful. I am trying to take 2016 slow. Not over stress myself with the blog, social media, and reading. I have been making personal teasers for the books I read and sharing those throughout social media. Make sure to follow me on Facebook. Coming this week will be our first Surprise Giveaway! What will it be? A Gift Card? A Book? You will have to follow to find out!

I first borrowed Joanna Wylde and Julie Ann Walker from my library. I enjoyed them both enough to want to purchase their books to start my own personal collection to read again. I got a review copy of Branded by Laura Wright and borrowed Heart of Obsidian by Nailin Sigh. The last two books I have not read yet. Vipers Run and Heart of Stone where bought on a whim. The blurbs and covers pulled me in. I hope they are good.

Heart of Stone

Heart of Stone(Gargoyles #1)
by Christine Warren
From bestselling author Christine Warren comes a thrilling new series about a young woman caught between a rock and a hard place—between gargoyles and demons…

Ella Harrow is trying to carve out a normal life for herself. Well, as normal as an art geek with psychic abilities can hope for. As museum docent and gift-shop manager, Ella is able to keep her distance from people—and her powers in check—while surrounding herself with the artifacts she loves. But how on earth is she supposed to act normal when a thousand-year-old statue on the museum’s terrace suddenly comes to life?

Heart of Stone

Not your ordinary gargoyle, Kees has been asleep for eons, waiting for a portent of evil to wake him from his slumber. Kees isn’t a vision; he’s a bat-winged guardian created to protect the world from the seven demons of the Dark. Somehow, Ella triggered his reawakening. Maybe the demons have been unleashed? Maybe his heart is finally ready to be chiseled open? The fate of the world isn’t carved in stone…yet.

Liam Takes Manhattan

Liam Takes Manhattan(Elder Races #9.5)
by Thea Harrison
Warning: This story contains a major spoiler from SHADOW’S END (book #9, released December 1st, 2015). If readers do not want to be spoiled, they should read the stories in order of their release dates.

This is a short story (15,000 words or 50 pages) intended for readers of the Elder Races who enjoy Liam Cuelebre as a character.

Reeling from a deep loss, the magical prince of the Wyr, Dragos and Pia’s son Liam Cuelebre, turns inward and withdrawn as he struggles to come to terms with who he is, along with the challenges that lie before him.

Hoping to ease his heartache and offer comfort, a concerned Dragos and Pia offer him a gift, something he has desired for a long time. Liam’s response has a ripple effect across all of New York. Soon miracles of all kinds start arriving just in time for Christmas, along with a visit from a mysterious person who gives Liam hope and a vision of his future.

LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN is the third part of a three-story series about Pia, Dragos, and their son, Liam. Each story stands alone, but fans might want to read all three: DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON, PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD, and LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN.

    • Thank you Deb. It’s never easy being sick but it’s especially harder for mom’s. We don’t get sick days. Have a great week!

  4. Try some ginger tea with honey, that usually eases my cold. I hope you feel better soon!

  5. I’m slowing down on my blog this year too. Finding it relaxing but I sometimes have panic attacks because I think I forgot something since I’m not always scrambling to get posts up. LOL That’s an awesome haul of new lovelies:) I like to buy the books in physical format if I really enjoyed them too. I hope you shake that bug and feel like yourself again soon:)

    • I hop I shake this bug too. It’s getting better just not fully going away. Only book lovers truly understand that drive to purchase a book in physical form as well as eBook if you’ve enjoyed it. My hubby doesn’t get it. Good thing he doesn’t check my blog or he would now Iv’e bought some books. ^_^
I’m trying to stay to the slower pass and not get pulled into booking to many tours. I want to have a more fun relaxed year and enjoy more time reading.
Have a great week and Happy Reading!
