~ 4.5 Liquid Fire Stars ~

Liquid Fire is book one in the Element of Love series by Gloria C. Bishop. It brings together a distinctive atmosphere with gripping characters.

GBishop is a new to me author. I fell in love with Liquid Fire from the very first page to the last. The author pulls you into an extraordinary world full of intriguing characters that have great dynamics together. I was mesmerized with her in-depth portrayal of the elements, Guardians who protect the elements and the magical dimension. I absolutely loved reading Liquid Fire. It was fresh, unique, action-packed and non-stop on the go adventure.

Lee is a mystery. She has no clue what she is. She is the type of heroine I just enjoy reading about. A rare kick-ass women with loads of fire raging deep inside. She is no push-over and when she discovers she is magical, well she doesn’t sit back. She goes out with her new friends to find out what really happened to her parents, why she never knew, and to find her missing elements.

Jeremy is a Water Guardian. He is intelligent, sweet, protective, and all round a great hero type character. He helps guide Lee and is with her almost every step of the way. Introducing her into this new magical world.

I loved Lee and Jeremy together. They banter, but it’s fun banter and when they do hook up well they sure do make some steam. The chemistry was great.

The secondary characters where wonderful, especially Avery, who helps Lee out. Avery is the library type, shy, but with a little hell cat hiding inside. I’m curious to find out her secret and learn more about her.

The Arthur does such a great job bring all her characters together. It feels real and like a family. The world building is deep. Their is no shortage of information. The author does an amazing job giving us this information, building up the world and helping her characters to grow.

The only thing that bugged me (this is minor) is I felt their was to much emphasis on drinking coffee. They sure do drink a lot of coffee. Man I’d be weird if that is all I drank.

Liquid Fire will pull your heartstrings on the past, fill your mind with a rich world, full of fun and captivating characters. I am looking forward to more in this series.

“You’re drawing me into your madness.” Lee mumbled. “These things aren’t real.”

“I assure you they are.” Avery said in a quiet but firm voice. “Look.” She held out her hand, palm up, and focussed her stare on it for a few seconds until a shimmering in the air appeared, the same way a distant hot pavement road reflects the air waves.

After a few moments of concentration, a form appeared, its shimmering see through body waved as though insubstantial. The twelve-inch tall, winged creature blinked its owlish eyes at Lee and then turned to Avery and opened its mouth, emitting a sound, suspiciously like bells as it chirped at her. She smiled and then shook her hand the creature slowly faded from sight.

Lee pushed her chair back. “What kind of trick is this?”

“Oh, Lee.” Avery leaned forward, her hand outstretched as though to calm a skittish animal. “It’s not a trick. I just wanted to show you it is real.”

MeetTheAuthor-Banner-angelsgp

Gloria C. BishopGloria lives in southwestern Ontario Canada, with her hubby, her two teenage kids and a slightly larger than normal (or believable) cockapoo named Spike. She was lucky enough to meet the dude of her dreams at a drunken toga party while at college, two days before she turned nighteen, and they’ve been together ever since. She believes in romance, and that attraction doesn’t have to die off.  It can survive everything from children to middle age drama.  She loves to laugh with her hubby and believes in keeping a sense of humour above everything else. Gloria has always written, everything from poetry to short stories to a column in a local paper. Her favorite is to write romance, because everyone deserves that feeling, that belief in a happily ever after.

A child of an extra-large blended family, with two brothers, two sisters, two dads, one mom, one step monster, twelve grandparents and so many aunts uncles and cousins that her hubby after twenty years still can’t keep track of them all.

Being surrounded by that many voices growing up taught her how to block out what she doesn’t want to hear.  To this day that skill has come in very useful, as she gobbles up four books a week. From romance to fantasy even textbooks- nothing stands in her way when she wants to read.

She draws and collects crafts like other women collect shoes (which she also collects but that’s another story).  When she isn’t wearing her hat as mom, wife, writer, sister, artist, daughter, crafter, doggie mommy, friend, she can be found sitting around a campfire with an eclectic group of people.

She is a self professed geek.  Her geekdoms include Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or anything Joss Whedon does), zombies, star wars, the princess bride, game of thrones, the walking dead and so many more that she can’t possibly name them all.

Overall she is a scooter riding, wookie hoodie wearing, fun loving woman who refuses to grow up.
