Top 5 places that inspired locations in the Elementals

I love traveling, and some of the places I’ve been have inspired scenes in my books;

     ✦ GREECE: In The Blood of the Hydra, the Elementals set off on a quest through Greece. Their journey parallels Odysseus’s in the Odyssey, and it was so much fun to write about their adventures! I’ve been to Athens and Olympia, but I would love to spend more time in Greece to further immerse myself in the country.

     ✦ ANTARCTICA: I’m getting ahead of myself because this has to do with Elementals 3: The Head of Medusa… because yes, they go to Antarctica! I haven’t been to Antarctica, but I’ve been fascinated with Antarctica since I was in fifth grade, when I did a school report on the first woman to journey to Antarctica. Researching the continent for the book was a blast.

     ✦ BEVERLY, MASSACHUSETTS: This is the town that Kinsley, Massachusetts is based on. I took creative license while writing about Kinsley, which is why I changed the town name from Beverly to Kinsley. But I had a map of Beverly next to me the entire time I wrote the treasure hunt scenes in Elementals 1. Soon after completing the book, I was able to visit Beverly and see some of the places mentioned in the book—like the ocean cove, the tennis club, the high school, and the street Nicole lived on.

     ✦ LURAY CAVERNS in VIRGINIA: This is another place I’ve been before, and these beautiful caverns inspired the cavern in Elementals 1.

     ✦ THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL IN BORA BORA: I haven’t been there before, but this beautiful hotel inspired the luxury resort on Helios’s island.
