Sunday Post/BB&B #111 ~ Banner Changes

This is my take on the Sunday Post, BB&B, & Stacking The Shelves.

Another week has gone bye and I am participating in the Caffeinated Book Reviewer Sunday Post, where we recap the past week on the blog, things to come, showcase books & giveaways plus much more.

I also participate in BB&B/Stacking The Shelves. The BB&B is inspired by The Story Siren, Talk Supe, Pop Culture Junkie, and Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, wither they are bought, borrowed, bagged (Won or Gifted). It can be physical or virtual additions to your shelves.

Personal Notes & Updates

I didn’t post last week. I missed it. I didn’t feel like putting a post together. I was tired after grandparents left and just needed to get caught up in RL. It gave me a chance to read a lot and when I say a lot I mean it. Take a look at all the books I read in the last two weeks. It was nice to just relax. This last week I received some sad news. My dad’s barn burned down. The whole structure is gone. The good thing is no one was hurt. The only loses where a few chickens, farm equipment, and the barn. I use to play in the barn all the time and to think it’s gone now. =(

New Look On The Blog

You may have noticed all the new banners on the blog and social sites. Well I decide to change things up. I’ve been trying to find something that fits the blog name better. The fantasy library I had, well I couldn’t find the original owner to credit/buy it from, so I decided to take it down especially after reading this post: Search Images for your Website Don’t Steal Them on Caffeinated Book Reviewer. They did a phenomenal job on this post and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone read it; because not many people know not to download the photos you find online or that you can get sued for using something you didn’t purchase the rights too. So, since I couldn’t find the original person who made the fantasy library I was using I took it down everywhere I used it. I went to this great site that Caffeinated mentioned: to look at stock photos and I found the angel and plant, so I bought them. I already use Canvas (LOVE canvas site) to make my other banners (Guest Post, Interviews, etc.), so I just made all the new ones with the new graphics along with a new Blog Banner. The Blog Decorator has a tutorial (Grab My Button Box) along with the code for making your blog banner. If you need to make a button go to their site. It’s SO easy!

Do you like the new banners? I love them and the angel is sexy. I think she fits the title Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. I think it works! Thoughts?

  1. Wow that’s impressive how many books you read these past two week! That’s so sad your dad’s barn burned down, those poor chickens 🙁

I like your new banner, I can’t remember what your previous one looks like, but this one sure fits your blog name. And your banners look great! That post was very informative, it’s difficult sometimes to be clear about the rules concerning things like this. I have to admit the rules surrounding that quite confuse me at times, I think everything I use on the blog is legal as well, but it’s still frightening to hear the stories of people getting sued. I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • I couldn’t believe I read all those books either. I usually get to three books a week maybe. I limited my online time and I think that helped a lot in reading so much.
Ya some chickens didn’t make it, but lots did get out. It is sad when any pet wither its a family pet or farm animal gets caught in a fire.

I understand about it being confusing. I’ve felt the rules surrounding copyrights are confusing and it is sad to hear about a blog getting sued or having their pictures used without permission.
My other picture was one I had before blogging and just kept into blogging. I used it as profile pic. It’s unique in that it has several books, plus characters from favorite books in it. This link, Click Here, will show you the picture I original used, but I know for a fact this is not the original owner; because the cut of the bottom with a website on it, of course that website is not up anymore.

      Happy Reading!

  2. I’m sorry about your father’s barn! That is sad, even if I’m sure everybody’s happy noone got hurt!
Your new banners are awesome 🙂 Very neat and eye-catching.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and happy reading.

  3. So sorry to hear about your father’s barn, but glad to hear that no one was injured and no larger animals were lost.

    • Thank’s for stoping by Got My Book! Ya it’s sad that the barn is gone, but thankful no one and the large animals where not hurt/lost. We got lucky on that front.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  4. Love the redesign, I enjoy giving my blog makeovers too. It just takes a lot of time so I try to do it every couple of years. Hehehe

  5. I did a post about stock images a while back as well! So many people don’t realize how easily you can be sued. I am shocked at the number of people who just grab stuff from a google image search! You can check out my post, Stock Images: What you need to know
Hope you have a great week!

    • Before I started blogging I did a lot of research, but nothing on stock photos. It wasn’t until this last year that I saw the post about the blogger being sued and then other blogs having images stollen or posting similar posts to inform others. I didn’t want to take any chances and I finally found a picture that I really liked of a sexy angel, so I just took down the old picture. No one wants to be sued. Thank’s for the link to your post. It was informative too. Have a great week and happy reading

  6. I can understand your feeling tired after your grandparents left – my gran always used to say that guests and fish stink after 3 days… while I’m sure that wasn’t the case with your relatives, I do know what she means:). I hope you have a good reading week and that the weather is kind. I’m hoping we’ll get more sunshine!

    • Living in CA we get a lot of sun. It’s the wind in San Francisco that can be an issue at times. Ya, I think everyone gets tired after relative leave. You have to get back on schedule and clean up after them. It was fun having the. It just takes a lot out of me.
Thanks for stoping by, have a great week and happy reading!

  7. Sounds like you had a great week. I love the new look. I think it is a great idea that you decided to change. Always good to follow the rules. I hope you have a good week. I still need to read the new Eternal Mates book.

    • Mel you are going to LOVE the new Eternal Mates… EEE I am so looking forward to the next one after this one. It’s nice to hear that someone likes the new look. I felt it was time to change it up and get more with the name as well as follow the rules. I did a lot of research before I started blogging, but I never did any on stock photos and such. It’s not something you think of. You see it on google search or some other place and you go oh I like that I’ll use it. Now, I’m legal ^_^!
Have a fabulous week and happy reading!
