Sunday Post/BB&B #119 ~ Car Troubles

This is my take on the Sunday Post, BB&B, & Stacking The Shelves.SP-BBB-STS-Banner03-angelsgp

Another week has gone bye and I am participating in the Caffeinated Book Reviewer Sunday Post, where we recap the past week on the blog, things to come, showcase books & giveaways plus much more.

I also participate in BB&B/Stacking The Shelves. The BB&B is inspired by The Story Siren, Talk Supe, Pop Culture Junkie, and Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, wither they are bought, borrowed, bagged (Won or Gifted). It can be physical or virtual additions to your shelves.

Personal Notes:

The week started off great. Nothing exciting happened until Thursday when the car wouldn’t start. We have a Prius. My hubby did some diagnostic check, but we still couldn’t get it running until around noon that day, then we only had half a dash working, so off to the dealers we went. It cost $165 just to look at it. Not to do anything. They told us one of the batteries needed to be replaced and that we have two oil leaks (small), but they noticed something. Well to get the car running we had them replace the battery. That cost labor and battery $450. The oil leaks would be $2,000 to fix, so we are waiting. I haven’t noticed any stains on the ground when the car is parked. We don’t drive much, since we live in CA, so we are waiting to fix that issue for now. They say bad things come in three. I hope the unexpected surprises are over.

(Double check $$. It can change anytime)

Bought: Wolf Fever $.99c sale, Temptation, & Shifting Shadows Pre-Order: Magic Binds Free: Justice for Mackenzie, Uncover Me, Brave the Heat, His to Protect, Bitter Ashes, & Beyond The Veil

Found Hardcover Shifting Shadows at B&N for only $2.99 online. I’m not sure how long that price will last, so with my B&N settlement I purchased it. Also bought the eCopy. I like to own both the eCopy and paperback/hardcover on my favorite series.

Took me a week. I kept getting interrupted by my son =/. It usually dosen’t take me that long to read a book. I can usually get three read in a week.

  1. Jeez, you really got hit hard this week! That’s so much money all at once. 🙁 I’m looking to buy my first car in the next year or so – honestly, I’d rather do without it!

It looks like you got a great assortment of books! I’m curious about the Lowe book – it looks like something I’d enjoy. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a fabulous week. 🙂

    • I love Ms. Lowe. I’ve read the Blue Moon Saloon and Twin Moon Ranch series books. I’m actually picking them up on eCopy when they pop up for sale that way I can go back and re-read them. I’m lucky enough to be on her review team to I get a first look at what’s coming up.

Ya, the car was a big hit and of course we only have the one car and had to get a rental until it was repaired. Living in CA their is hardly any parking and if you don’t live in a house you usually only have one parking space assigned to you. We are holding off on the oil leak repairs. I don’t see any stains on the floor where the car is parked, so I think if we do have them it’s very very minor. Plus the $$ price is just to high right now.

      Have a great week!!

  2. It is never fun to have to fix car issues. I’m glad the main issues wasn’t too expensive. I like having hardbacks of some series too. I need to find some of the Mercy Thompson books. I’ve been bad about buying them since I’ve gone straight to audiobooks. i’m missing the last three, I think.

    • I’m glad the main issues wasn’t to expensive, but it still put a hit into our budget and other expenses we have to pay.

I usually don’t buy hardcopies, but when I saw the price I jumped at it. I usually go for paperback on the books I really want. I have a feeling it wasn’t supposed to be listed that low ^_^.

  3. Car troubles are unbelievably expensive to fix. What they charge for labor blows me away. We had a bit of car trouble too. Some idiot driving down our road, on the wrong side, swiped my son’s car and ripped the mirror off. We were lucky there was no other damage, so hubby could just fix this himself for $25.

I am SO like you when you say you like the physical book of your favorite series as well as the ebook. I like to see them out.

Hope next week is better for you!

    • You got luck being able to fix the issue yourself. The deal or car place probably would have charged close to $100. I’m glad the main issues was not to bad, but still it put a hit on our budget this month.

I have a few series that I like to own both the eCopy and physical book for. I just never know if I feel like reading on eReader or having it in my hands. For the most part my book collection is now eCopies, but a few series and authors capture me so much that I want both types.

Have a wonderful week. Grandma is coming into town at the end of the week, so I feel this week will be better as long as their is no more unexpected surprises. ^_^
