Sunday Post/BB&B #120 ~ Birthday & Back To School

This is my take on the Sunday Post, BB&B, & Stacking The Shelves.SP-BBB-STS-Banner03-angelsgp

Another week has gone bye and I am participating in the Caffeinated Book Reviewer Sunday Post, where we recap the past week on the blog, things to come, showcase books & giveaways plus much more.

I also participate in BB&B/Stacking The Shelves. The BB&B is inspired by The Story Siren, Talk Supe, Pop Culture Junkie, and Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, wither they are bought, borrowed, bagged (Won or Gifted). It can be physical or virtual additions to your shelves.

Personal Notes:

Well the week before last Grandma came back into town to visit. It was her Birthday weekend and so we celebrated. I didn’t get online or post my Sunday thing, since I was running around doing family activities, planning a birthday party, and working.

My son starts his first day of Pre-K on Monday. Oh My! He’s going from half day daycare, to full day Pre-K. My emotions are all over the place. Do you have kids? Are they back in school? How did you handle that first time starting school?

For sum reason summer has flown by. Where has it gone? Lately I have felt that I’m being pulled into too many directions, over stressed, & always busy. This has lead me to debating and think about not doing the Sunday Post anymore and switching to a month-wrap on the blog instead. I would feature all things on the blog that month plus Stacking The Shelves. I might also do a post here or their of new books Borrowed & Bagged. It’s an idea! Thoughts?

Reading: I’ve not gotten much reading done this summer. Life has/is busy, chaotic, and full of activities. The last two weeks; it’s taken me a full week to read just one book. I usually nock out three books in a week. =(  Just take a look at what I read below:

Guardian’s Mate (Shifters Unbound, #9)
by Jennifer Ashley
Expected publication: September 6th 2016

Guardian's MateShe wasn’t ready to lead…

Chosen as the Guardian of her Montana Shiftertown, wolf Shifter Rae Lyall is facing opposition—for no woman has ever been selected for this powerful position. Still adjusting to the new authority thrust upon her, Rae travels to train with Zander Moncrieff, a Shifter healer, tasked with teaching her about her new role and its responsibilities.

He wasn’t ready to love…

A polar bear Shifter, Zander wears no Collar and follows no rules but his own. Rae finds him arrogant and demanding, yet compelling and intriguing. Zander has no wish to mate but the sassy Guardian is drawing him out of his shell, stirring feelings long suppressed. And when a new threat looms over Rae’s home, she and Zander must race to the rescue, forced closer to danger…and to each other.

I was born and raised in Northern Indiana. I’m an outdoor sun loving reader living near San Fransisco. I’m a mother, wife, dog owner, animal, and book lover. I’m the owner, reviewer, and mind behind Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. My favorite animals are horses & dogs. As for reading I love all things paranormal & urban fantasy. My favorite shifters are dragons!

  1. Oh, I can almost remember when my kiddos were that young! My oldest, “the Boy” is going to be 13 next month and heading into 7th grade. My baby girl, BG, is going to be in 5th grade. They both start back next week. I can’t believe they are so big already! Good luck with pre-K… it goes by quickly!

    • Ya, it does go by fast. I see the old picots a videos of when he was a baby or started walking and go aww he’s so big now. He loves going to school, which is great. Some kids give their parents a hard time every morning, but he’s like mommy/daddy lets go.. ^_^ Hope you kids do well this year in school. Have a great week!

  2. Those cupcakes look yummy! Looks like a good time. I haven’t heard of most of your books, but they look like some good ones! Have a great week! You can check out my Sunday Post in the link below!

    • The cupcakes where delicious. We only had three kids and I had also made a cherry pie, so I ended up taking the cupcakes to work and all of them where eaten up quickly. Thank’s for stoping by Lisa!

  3. Sounds like a fun time for you and your family. Happy Birthday to your Grandmother. That first day of school was so hard for me. My son was actually in the newspaper the next day. He was sitting on the floor and looked so lost. Talk about feeling guilty. LOL I still think it was harder for me than for him.

    • You probably are right that it’s harder for the parents (mom’s) then it is for the kids. He seams to be in good spirits and wants to go on Monday. We all had a great time and thank’s for the birthday wishes to grandma. Have a great week!

  4. Happy birthday to Grandma! I don’t have kids but I myself am going back to school next week, for my last year of undergrad. I’m excited and a little sad too! I hope you enjoy all of your new books. 🙂

    Have a fabulous week!

    • Good luck with your last year. I’m sure you will do great. I’ve already read Heir of the Dog a while ago, just picked it up because it was free and I had received a review copy of NetGalley. The series is a good one to read. The others all look interesting.
Have a fabulous week Alyssa and thank’s for stoping in.

  5. Summer is always a busy time for reading and focusing on the blog. It’s usually when the community has a ton of activities going on and I find myself not wanting to be cooped up in the house. This summer we moved, so that took a huge hit on my reading. So, you are not alone. Life happens. BTW, how are you liking Guardian’s Mate? I have been falling behind on review books and haven’t gotten to it yet but I’m dying to read it.

    • Life does happen. We went on vacation, then came back and moved, also finalized our son into his new school, had grandparents visiting, and more. I wanted and still do want to get outside and read, not be cooped up inside, but it seams something always gets in the way of my reading. Working on the blog takes up time and as you said summer seams to be a buys time for blogging and blogger activities.
I really liked Guardian’s Mate. I finished it last night. Shifter Unbound series is a favorite. Their is always something new with the continuing underlining plot. Zander I loved him, Rae was ok. It’s got some suppress in it.

  6. Life can be all time consuming. Ooo Pre-K is a big step. It is hard, but so good for them. I have none in school.

    • I think he will enjoy Pre-K, it’s just hard to let go and it’s a change for us both to have him gone most of the day instead of just the three hours in the AM. So many changes this summer and family actives that life has felt overwhelming especially adding in the blog. I’m hoping it will level out and I’ll be able to get back to what I enjoy, reading.

  7. I completely understand how life can take up all of your time. I’ve been feeling the same way. I’m really behind on visiting blogs. I’m hoping to get some in time visiting today. I’m also behind on reading. If it weren’t for audiobooks, I would be extremely behind. Looks like you have some fun books. Enjoy and have a great week.

    • If I did audio’s I probably wouldn’t feel as stressed and like I’m not reading what I want to, but I just haven’t been able to get into audio’s. I wasn’t expecting the summer to be so busy and have so many changes, but it did and it’s putting stress on me. Maybe when my son goes off to school, it will get more settled and I’ll not feel so overwhelmed.
Thanks for stoping in and have an amazing week Melanie.

  8. Oh some nice books there! Happy reading and have a nice weekend!
