A Magical Shift is book one in the Weres and Witches of Silver Lake by Vella Day.

I picked this up for free through the retailer. There were some interesting things going on with a stocker and then things happening in town that weren’t normal.

Unfortunately, the story and characters weren’t pulling me in. I really tried to read this, but kept setting it aside to read something else. My main issue was I wasn’t connecting with the characters. I didn’t feel the attraction or romance between our leads. The words were there, but the feelings weren’t coming through to me.

I eventually just said that’s enough and DNF’d this title at 28%.

Even though A Magical Shift wasn’t the book for me I urge you to give it a shot, especially if the blurb intrigues you. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Owner/Review and mind behind Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. However what I am not is a writer. I apologize now for the grammatical and punctuation errors I make, because I know I’m going to make them. I’m a mother, wife, dog owner, animal, and book lover. My favorite animals are horses. As for reading I love all things paranormal & urban fantasy. My favorite shifters are dragons!

  1. I’m sorry this one didn’t work for you, Angela. Some DNFs aren’t so cut and dried; they just slowly lose your interest.

    • Yep. I spent several days reading a little then setting it aside. I really wanted this one to work. I’ve seen it around and the cover plus blurb had my interest, but unfortunately it didn’t work. I don’t have to many DNF’s and when I do it’s clear, but this one just took a little longer to come to the DNF pile. Thank you for checking out my review!

    • With all the books I have on my TBR and the ones I really want to read. I decide that if I’m not getting into it, then maybe it’s time to set it aside and move on. Thanks for stoping in and checking out my review!
