Sign Up ~ 2017 Library Love Challenge

I LOVE the Library and I especially LOVE the Library Challenges that have been hosted in the past by the Book Dragon’s Lair (I Love Libraries), which Bea’s Book Nook took over in 2016. Then in 2015 and past years there was (Snagged @ The Library Reading Challenge) hosted by The Book Nympho & Geeky Bloggers Book Blog.

This year my co-host Bea’s Book Nook and I will be taking up the mantel and hosting a combination of the two called:

Library Love Challenge!

If you love to read and/or listen to books then you also love to buy every book you want to read. And, well, that puts a hurt on your wallet. Checking books (print, ebook, or audios) out from the library can save you LOTS of money and in most places getting a library card is FREE.

Details:

Runs: January 1, 2017 – December 31, 2017. You can join any time.

Put a sign up post on your blog or (dedicate a Goodreads shelf or LibraryThing) and link it below. Make sure it’s public.

The goal is to read at least twelve (12) books from the library, but you can read more. While twelve is the minimum, there is no maximum limit. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you.

Any format will work for this challenge (print, ebook, or audio); as long as you checked it out from the library, it counts.

Books can be any genre (fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, etc.).

Crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed, including re-reads. The goal is to support your local library and save money.

Write a review – 2 sentences or an essay, whatever works for you, but there is a minimum of 2 sentences. Not sure what to write? How about something like, “The plot was a delight, but the characters didn’t capture me.”

Levels:

  • Dewey Decimal: read 12 books
  • Thrifty Reader: read 24 books
  • Overdrive Junkie: read 36 books
  • Library Card on Fire: read 50+ books

As an added bonus: We are offer up a GIVEAWAY with this Challenge. Winner will be picked at the end of the year!! The entries are the direct links to your book reviews and you will have until Jan. 2nd, 2018 to enter your reviews in the Rafflecopter.

What you could win: Winner gets their choice of 2 books (shipped from Book Depository) or ebooks (nook or kindle) up to $12 each. (Open INT)

Owner/Review and mind behind Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. However what I am not is a writer. I apologize now for the grammatical and punctuation errors I make, because I know I’m going to make them. I’m a mother, wife, dog owner, animal, and book lover. My favorite animals are horses. As for reading I love all things paranormal & urban fantasy. My favorite shifters are dragons!

  3. So excited to join this challenge! I always wait for books to become available instead of buying them so this should be an easy challenge for me

  4. Thanks for hosting this challenge! I love my library and borrow both books and DVDs from my locals. I have a physical TBR I want to make a dent in this year, but I do usually borrow a few so I’ll try for 12 🙂

    • I’m glad you decided to join us Rebecca. The library is a great source to get books, magazines, and DVD’s. I borrow quite a few kid books and DVD’s plus I always try to see if they have books from my TBR that I can borrow before going out and buying.
Have fun and love the library!

  9. I love the library! Thanks for hosting this wonderful challenge!

  10. All signed up and ready for the new year! I need to remember to come back to fill out the review linky at the end of each month at least, but possibly more.

  14. Considering that I get 90% or more of my books from the library, this seems like the challenge for me!

If BookLikes cooperates I’ll be reviewing and tracking there (where my signup post links). But I’ve also set up a shelf on GoodReads as a backup https://www.goodreads.com/review/list/8830421-j-l-s-bibliomania?shelf=2017-library-challenge

  21. I’m joining in, I’ve read 43 library books so far this year, so I’m going for Library Card on Fire 50+ books.

  22. Sadly getting a library card here isn’t free and they have few books I actually want to read, so I don’t really use my library. But in most cases I do think a library is a great resource to get your books from. I hope you have fun hosting this challenge and good luck!

    • Thank you Lola. I use to live someplace that you had to pay for a library card. I never did get a card; because of that reason, but most libraries it’s free and more and more they are purchasing online eBooks and Audios. I still like to borrow paperbacks from the library. I’m looking forward to this challenge and seeing how everyone does. Thank’s for stoping in.

  23. I cannot wait to do this challenge! I love my local library! This will push me to read even more library books (if that is possible!)
    Thanks for making this challenge!

    • You are welcome Kim and welcome aboard. I didn’t use my library as much last year, but this year it’s one of my goals to set my library card ON FIRE ^_^
