My Reading Habits

What are your reading habits?

I ran across these questions and topic on Spooky’s House of Books back in January. I’ve not shared much personally about me on the blog and found that this would give you a little insight into me and my reading habits.

— Do you have a certain place in your home for reading?

Not really. I read on the couch or in bed. If it’s sunny, warm, hot, or all around nice outside I prefer to be outdoors.

— Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmark, but if that’s not handy then any random piece of paper will do until I find a bookmark. Really I’m never without a bookmark of some kind.

— Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop read after a chapter / certain number of pages?

I can stop reading, but I prefer to finish the chapter. If I stop someplace in the page I usually forget where and read the same line or paragraph over again.

— Do you eat or drink while read?

Yes. I enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee and something to snake on.

— Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I sometimes have the TV on, but that is only when my son is home or my hubby wants to watch soccer. If it’s not something I’m wanting to see, I’ll pick up a book and read. I prefer not to have TV or Music going. Not a multitasks in that way. ^_^

— One book at a time or several at once?

I read one book at a time. I finish one; before I pick up the next. Can’t do (don’t like too do) the multi books. I like to focus on one story at a time.

— Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere. I’m never without a book. (Love my eReader)

— Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head.

— Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

No. Never.

— Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it new.

— Do you write in your books?

Hell No. “My precious” I love my books and will never ever write or dog ear them.

Now that I’ve shared my reading habits.
Tell me what are your reading habits? I’d love to know.

I'm an outdoor sun loving reader living near San Fransisco. I’m a mother, wife, animal & book lover. I'm the owner, reviewer & mind behind Angel’s Guilty Pleasures. My favorite animals are horses & dogs. As for reading I love all things paranormal & urban fantasy & my favorite shifters are dragons.

  1. Oh my gosh. Write in books?! Noooo! I’m with you on that. I do 2 books– one print/ebook and one on audio. The audio seems more like watching tv so it’s not too bad. But so can’t do more than one print at a time.

    • Anna, thank’s for sharing a title with me. I like learning a little about those that follow and love books.

The only audio books I ever listen too where Harry Potter. I just never got into audio at least not yet. Now I can see having an eBook and print one going, but still I’m a one book girl no mater what formate.

  2. Proud of you! I skip ahead especially in thrillers lol

I’m never without a book either. So grateful for smart phones, reading has never been easier.

    • I never could skip ahead. If I don’t like it I just set it down and move on. I don’t know how people can read ahead or skip around.

I totally agree with you. Reading has never been easier now that we have smart phones, iPads, and eReaders. I still will care a paperback now and then, but having my phone or iPad I can just pick and read.

  3. Your habits are mostly like mine. I will try to read while hubby watches TV, but he distracts me with “did you see that?”. Luckily he prefers to watch TV in bed and I can turn everything off in the living room. I used to like to snack and drink when I read, but for some reason I’ve gotten out of the habit. I think it was the popcorn butter on my ereader buttons, or not being able to turn a page with my popcorn hand! You never, EVER break the spine of the book. It drives me crazy to go to the second hand store and see all those poor spines. What were those people thinking?! I try my best not to stop reading before the end of a chapter. Of course, I always sneak a peek at the first page of the next chapter (just in case I just HAVE to continue), but if I see down on the kindle that it’s going to take me awhile to finish the chapter and I have things to do, I will stop. These are great questions. They need to be in more of the discussion posts!

    • So glad you stopped by Tanya and shared some of your reading habits. I hear you about the spine. I feel like crying when I see what people have done to all those books. With my eReader it makes it easier to stop whenever I need too, but lately I’ve been reading paperbacks and have to finish the page or chapter other wise I’m re-reading something. I can’t peek. I don’t know how other people can do that. I love for it all to be a surprise! ^_^

  4. So many questions. Let’s see….I like to read on my loveseat. I always have a nice fancy bookmark when not reading from my kindle. I can “usually” stop during a chapter. I never write in my books. That’s sacrilege!! I like to keep my spine in good shape. Although, I do smell the book to death. I read silently, and can read anywhere. I read one book at a time. I will have a glass of wine or cooler with my book. And I never skip pages.

I think that covers your questions. Thanks for asking.

    • Wonderful Mary. Thank’s for stopping by and sharing with me. Writing in a book is such a big NO with me. I feel you on the sacrilege. The only books I don’t mind writing are text books, but I’m not in school anymore, so NO writing. ^_^ Ya, another one book at a time person. I just don’t know how people can have more then one book going. I’ve done it now and then, but I just can’t do it all the time. The only time it works for me is with those short books that aren’t to heavy in plot or anything. I like to focus on the adventure being created in that one book.
