The paranormal war that engulfed New Orleans seven years ago is over. But the battle for the city is just beginning . . .

Claire Connolly is a Sensitive, infected with magic when the Veil that divides humanity from the world beyond fell. Magic can easily consume and destroy a Sensitive, and if Claire’s secret is discovered she’ll be locked into the walled district of Devil’s Isle along with every other Paranormal left in the city.

Bounty hunter Liam Quinn discovered Claire’s secret, but refused to turn her in. Together they saved New Orleans from the resurgence of magic that nearly destroyed it. But now a dangerous cult is on the rise, and it will take both Claire and Liam—and magical allies within Devil’s Isle’s towering walls—to defeat the occult threat before magic corrupts them both...

The Sight is book two in the Devil’s Isle series by Chloe Neill. We’re in the middle of a war that gets dangerous fast.

This series does need to be read in order. Their is very little recap, and most of the world-building is laid out in book one, The Veil. Each book builds on the next getting us deeper into the magical and political world.

The Sight is tailored towards the political implications of two opposing sides. The start was a bit slow, which made it hard to get into the story, but around the halfway point things pick up and come to a head. Things then start to get very interesting with a few surprises and revelations along the way. It makes me curious especially after such an ending to see what will happen next. I didn’t expect that outcome.

We do get some forward progress with Claire and Liam’s romance. The sexual tension is strong between them, but even though they make progress, they also take a few steps back.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Sight.

Rated: 3.5 Stars

  2. Oh, I really like this series and enjoyed the second book. I felt the first book did a good job of creating an interesting world, but The Sight really drew me in. I cannot wait for the next one!

    • It is a very unique and in-depth world. Book one gave you a lot of world building, this one took us more on the political aspect of things. With the ending for The Sight, which I didn’t see it coming, I curious to see where things go. It is an enjoyable and entertaining series. Glad you liked it.

  3. I started with this one and managed to do okay. I liked it and plan to go back for book one at some point. I was a bit surprised by that ending, too!

    • The ending.. I wasn’t expecting it nor what happened with her possible lover. It through me. I’m glad you could understand the story without having read book one yet. I think I would have been lost, if I hadn’t read in order.

  4. Shoot! I forgot I have this and failed to log it in my TBR. I do love the first one and i obviously need to get caught up. I’m such a loser lol

  5. For some reason I wasn’t as thrilled with the beginning of this series as I was hoping. I liked it, but I wasn’t over the moon, which I think is why I still haven’t jumped into The Sight yet. I’m hoping to get around to it soon though.

    • I agree. I rated book one the same as two. The series has been ok, but it’s not as, what am I looking for, as all consuming and as engaging as I want it to be.

  6. Thanks for your review on this book. I have not read this series. Not sure about it. I loved the Chicagoland vampires series though. This series is just making me pause for some reason.

    • I haven’t finished the Chicagoland Vampires yet, two books to go. It took me a while to get into her Vampires. As for The Sight. I enjoy the world and characters. It’s interesting, but something is holding me back. After the ending in this one. I’m curious about what’s going to happen next.

  7. I think we almost had the same feelings for this one
