Book Tag: The TBR Book Tag (2017)

Posted on by

This tag popped up on Rantings of a Reading Addict.
It asks/talks about tackling the old TBR pile and how do you keep track?

Who doesn’t have a TBR list a mile long?? Mine is so long I won’t ever get to all the books and it doesn’t include all the free downloads I have on my eReader that I pick up daily.

The TBR Book Tag Questions

How do you keep track of your TBR Pile?

Years ago long before I started blogging I use to use a word document to keep track of my reading. One of my word lists was Books I Will Never Read Again, another was Books I Want To Read, and last Books I Loved. Those names a pretty self explanatory ?. This was how I kept track.

Now I just add all the books I find interesting, want to read, or just like to my Goodreads To-Read-Shelf. Once I read a book they then get put into different bookshelves like: 4-stars, favorite-shifter, favorite-contemporary, etc…

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

I’d say eBook, but I don’t care how I read it. This year I’ve been preferring paperbacks, but I’ll read whatever is available from my library (eBook or print) or if I all ready own it I’ll read it in the formate I have.

A book that’s been on your TBR the longest.

Never Again (Wizards of Nevermore, #1) by Michele Bardsley has been on my TBR since June of 2012. It’s my first book I added when I set up my account in 2012.

A book you’ve recently added to your TBR.

Well I’m adding at least once a week. “Thank’s to all the blogs I follow for keeping my TBR pile in the happy mountain zone.”  ?  I just added Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon (The Embraced, #3) by Kerrelyn Sparks. Look at that cover.  ?

A book on your TBR you never plan on reading.

I Kissed a Dog (Werewolves of the West, #1) by Carol Van Atta was put on my TBR list back in Feb. 2013. I don’t know why I put it on their. It might have something to do with Chloe Carpenter our heroine who can communicate with animals. That sounded interesting.

An unpublished book on your TBR you’re excited for.

This one can’t be limited to just one. Really!! Their are a few I’m excited for, so I’ll keep it down to three books: Spellbinder (Moonshadow, #2) by Thea Harrison coming July 18th, 2017, Wildfire (Hidden Legacy, #3) by Ilona Andrews coming July 25th, 2017, & Ride Wild (Raven Riders, #3) by Laura Kaye coming Oct. 31st, 2017 .

A book on your TBR everyone’s read but you.

Well I’m going with a series, not just a book, and that series is The Dresden Files. I’m slowly working my way through it. I finished with book 4, Summer Knight and need to pick up book 5, Death Masks.

A book on your TBR everyone recommends to you.

Again this is another series, well three series: The Dresden Files (which I’m reading now), Jane Yellowrock (which I’m also reading now), and the one I haven’t yet started would be Dark-Hunterverse by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

A book on your TBR you’re dying to read.

Oh Lordy!! This one can’t be limited either. Their are just to many on my TBR that are out now that I’m dying to read. I’ll keep it down to three books: Keystone (Crossbreed #1) by Dannika Dark, Wild & Sweet (Haven Brotherhood #2) by Rhenna Morgan, & Justice for Corrie (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes, #3) by Susan Stoker.

How many books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

As of June 25th, 2017 I have 1,237 on my TBR shelf. ?

  1. I was just shocked to see I only have 577 on my to read shelf on GoodReads. Of course that doesn’t include box sets, Audible, paperbacks, iffy books that I own, but now I think look like nothing I would read etc. I use GoodReads a lot, but way less than some people. I get a lot of freebies and even read one occasionally. Way too many books! Not complaining though?

    • I have way to many books, but no complaints. My to read shelf on Goodreads doesn’t have all those free books I pick up or box sets. Thank’s for stopping in Lorna.

  2. I’ve read Ride wild,Fantasy loverloved both.it would be easier to say what books I’ve read then make a list of my tbr books!!! Every time I tell myself I won’t add any new books to my tbr pile,it seems I add more and more!!! Theirs not enough time in a day for reading!!!

    • I know that feeling. I keep adding to my TBR and it grows daily. With being summer and my son out of school finding time to read is few and far between. I feel like I don’t have enough time. ^_^ Thank’s for stopping in Kathy.

  3. I loved Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. In fact, I loved all of the Dark-Hunter Universe books but after reading up to book 18 I was burned out. When I first started reading them you got 2 or 3 books a year. When it flipped to one a year due to another bunch of series being written I lost my patience (despite reading the other series too! lol). I often think I’ll go back, re-read and then continue with the series, because there are so many books in it that I LOVED, but I haven’t yet.

    • Everyone has recommend Sherrilyn Kenyon and her Dark-Hunter series. I’ma little intimidated with how many books are in the series. One day I plan to give it a try. I’m first working my way thought Jane Yellowrock and The Dresden Files. Thank’s for stopping in.

  4. Oh I read that first one in Bardsley’s series and enjoyed it. I’m all about Goodreads, too. 🙂

    • Well the Bardsley book has been on their since 2012. I really need to try those older books. Goodreads is a life saver for me. I’d be lost without.

  5. I agree, Sherrilyn Kenyon is a must read. lol
I’m strange because my TBR pile isn’t really big. I’ll only add books to my wish list if I think I’ll like the book and will actually read it. I usually buy my books with the Amazon gift cards I get from doing surveys and I almost always buy print books. I’m very picky about who and what I read and usually stick with authors I like or series that I like. I don’t like it when I try a new author and end up disliking the book. Who has time for that. I’ll try new authors when I win a book or see one that looks good on Amazon for free. If I like it, I tend to read others from that author. I don’t really keep track and I don’t really use Goodreads even though I have an account.

    • I’d be completely lost if I didn’t use Goodreads. Yep, everyone says Kenyon is a must read. One of these days.. ^_^

  6. Sherrilyn Kenyon is a must, despite how scary the number of books in the series is! I also have Dannika Dark pretty close to the top of my TBR, but my mind is battling on which of her series I should start with. I want to try some Kerrelyn Sparks too before I go to an author/reader event in October and there are so many books I don’t know where to start with her either. I am working on getting my GR shelves under some kind of organization, just haven’t had much time to get to it yet. I feel like I don’t even look there when I am choosing a book. I also think that more blogs should have links to Goodreads for the series, since I’ve started adding books blogs are featuring. So much easier than searching LOL. Yeah, I’ll admit it, I’m lazy 😉

    • Well I try to add a the Goodreads link for the book or series when I do a review or spotlight. I like having that easy link to Goodreads, so I don’t have to search. Sherrilyn, everyone says I need to read. Sparks her Love at Stake is fun, The Embraced is the newest series out. I’m liking both. It might be less daunting if you go for the new series unless you don’t want to wait for the books to come, then Love at Stake is the way to go. ^_^
      Thank’s for stopping in.
