The hero we've all been waiting for...

Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes

Former Navy SEAL

Underground operator for Black Knights Inc., the covert government defense firm disguised as a custom motorcycle shop.

In a black-on-black international mission that went seriously sideways, Ozzie was badly injured—now he's stuck at BKI headquarters in Chicago, champing at the bit to get out into the field again. To his disgust, he's tasked with distracting Chicago Tribune ace reporter Samantha Tate, who's been trying to dig up the dirt on BKI for years. Turns out Samantha's beauty, intelligence and sense of humor are a seriously big distraction, and Ozzie's losing his desire to keep her at bay.

Ozzie's tired of hiding, and Samantha may be the best-and worst—person to share his secrets with...

Wild Ride is book nine in the Black Knights Inc. series by Julie Ann Walker. Though this book could be read out of order I feel you should at least read Full Throttle first. A big life altering event happens in Full Throttle to affect our lead hero Ozzie.

I had a pleasant time reading Ozzie and Samantha’s story. It had action, mistrust, secrets, danger, and passion. Our leads had good chemistry and we get to see previous characters. I loved the banter between Ozzie and Christian. It was so much fun and Samantha showed that she could hold her own with Ozzie on the silly comments, 80’s bands, and more

I did have a few issues:
– First, that Ozzie and Samantha didn’t really talk honestly or openly until close to the last 20-25% of the book, having this happen made things drag. They could have wrapped up some issues sooner and since they didn’t it took away from the romantic relationship. At least in my eyes.

– Second and my main issue was Emily and Christian. I loved having them in the story, don’t get me wrong, secondary characters are great and gearing up for another couple even better, but so much page time was spent on these two instead of the main couple Ozzie and Samantha. And, to top it off the next book Fuel for Fire isn’t about Emily and Christian, it’s Dagan and Chelsea’s. Why waist so much page time on a couple that won’t have a book next?

Wild Ride was a delightful read in the Black Knights Inc. series and I do so love Ozzie.

Rated: 3.5 Stars

  1. It is frustrating reading a story where the couple fails to communicate. #getsocial17

  2. I was disappointed as well that the next book isn’t Christian’s. This was my first read from this author – so I need to go back and read the rest of the series. #getsocial2017

    • I started the series with book one. Not every book has to be read in order and some do stand quite well their own. Their was just so much page time for Emily and Christian, that I was like ok we are getting them next, but nope it’s someone else. I still enjoyed the story, but it’s not my favorite in the series. Hope you enjoy others in the BKI, when you get to them.

    • Thank you for sharing!

  4. It’s frustrating when you as the reader can see the problems that could be fixed if they’d just talk to each other. Thanks for the review.

    • Ya it is a little frustrating. I wasn’t expecting Ozzie to end up with Samantha. She’s the reporter who’s been trying to find out the truth about the BKI boys since for ever. I still had an enjoyable time reading. It was nice to visit new and old characters. Thank’s Mary for stopping in.

  5. Ugh… I hate books that feature couples who won’t comminucate honestly especially when it goes on and on and on. It drives me nuts!

    • I can agree with you Heidi. A lot could have been solved and resolved so much sooner if they just opened up and talked to each other. Even with the few issues I had. It wasn’t my favorite, but I still enjoyed Wild Ride.

  6. Holy crap, this is at book 9 already? I really have to get back to the series and get caught up!

    • We are already at 9. WOW, and 10, Fuel for Fire, comes out in July 2017. This is my first contemporary romantic suspense series I feel in love with. I was not much of a contemporary reader until I found the BKI series. Happy Reading!

  7. Oh she is up to 9 already!
