July is my birthday month. In celebration I participated in the Book of Choice giveaway hop hosted by FLYLēF. That was fun! And, so I’ve decided to continue my participate joining in August and September’s Hop, so make sure to stop by and enter. Who doesn’t like a chance to win a new release for that month?

For my Birthday I received a gift card to Amazon, some money, Fantastic Beasts Movie, Tororo Shoulder Message Bag, and a ProCase to carry my MacBook Air in. Of course with the gift cards I bought books and they are featured below in my Amazon Prime Day and above in the Staking the Shelves & BB&B memo

Real life has been fun this summer. My son is into swimming and soccer. I’ve been taking him around to his classes. We also have been taking part in some programs hosted at our local library for the summer for those kids entering TK and/or Kindergarten. It gave me an hour of uninterrupted free time. I did some blogging and reading. I do so love uninterrupted time.

Lets see what else has been happening. My husband finally got his boot off his foot and is getting back into shape and refereeing two soccer games a week. If you don’t know, a while back almost 2 months now, he had a hairline fracture in his foot and had to have a cast on for 6 weeks then move to a boot for another 2 weeks, so it’s been a process. I’ve been the chaffer as well as the cleaning lady. No help from him for several weeks; because of his foot. Now, he can start helping out around the house again.

We’ve had some warm weather and a few very HOT days here in California this year. When I’m not reading or blogging I’m working on my garden. It’s a work in progress, but I’m enjoying watching my plants and flowers come to life. So, my green beans aren’t as tall as I thought they would be by now. I’ve caught my dog, Saphira, eating them now and then. I don’t know why, but if I leave her outside on the patio unattended she sneaks over to the tomato plant and green beans. Silly dog!

Amazon Prime Day! Did you pick up anything? I took advantage of the buy $15 in books get $5 off and some of the sales happening. The books I bought: Wild & Sweet, Shards of Hope, Fate’s Edge, Blood Lust, & Dragon Bound.

I also bought the Amazon Fire 7 and Ztotop Folio Case for the Fire 7. I’ve been playing with the Fire 7. I bought it for my mom to give to her for her birthday in November. My mom is not computer savvy. She’s got an iMac (by my request) and an iPad (her dad’s older iPad) and just recently I finally got her to update the flip phone, yes a flip phone, to an iPhone. It’s been a process getting her to understand how to use these devices, especially with her living in Indiana and me in California.

Well her iPad is giving her troubles. She doesn’t use a lot of the feature on it. All she uses is Safari, Facebook, Emailing, Reading (not really), maybe taking pictures and the occasional FaceTime, which she can do on the iPhone now. She wants to read more, but has trouble understanding how to buy books and everything else in that process. I thought the Fire would be a good opportunity to help her out. So, before I give it to her I needed to test it. So, far I’m liking it and find it easy to navigate and use. My only complaint is the adds on the lock screen. I wish I could turn them off or change them to be more in my interests. If the Fire 7 doesn’t work out, well it didn’t cost much so no big deal. My mom’s also been talking about Alexa. She wants Alexa and the Fire 7 I bought has Alexa… I’m hoping she likes the device and finds it as easy as I do to work with.

Some other news on the blog front. I completed my Goodreads Challenge of reading 100 books for the year. Now it’s time to see how many over I’ll get.

Last month I mentioned how I finally got the Continue Reading button to work on the blog after 3-years of trying to figure it out. Well I accomplished adding a line under and over on the top menu. I don’t understand the coding, but I figured this out and can’t be happier.

While surfing around the net and visiting other blogs I ran across the 2017 Book Blog Discussion Challenge hosted by Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight and decide to join in! For more information, sign-up, and monthly email reminder: Click Here. Their have been some really great topics discussed by a verity of bloggers in the month of July. If your interested in see all the July discussion, you can check them out HERE on the link up.

Last month I also mentioned how I won a copy of Silver Silence from Under The Covers Book Blog & also Author Juliette Cross Big Box Giveaway. The books arrived. Look at all the goodies that arrived this month. I’ve got lots of new authors and series to try out. I also won a kindle eCopy from Lisa Dawn Wadler for the The Dragon’s Wife which I’m hosted a giveaway for one lucky follower to win, ENTER HERE

  1. Wow what a wonderful month. Nice to go on a shopping book spree with birthday money. I see you have read an arc of Archangel’s Viper which I must pre-order, NS signed my Silver Silence ( which I loved) so hope will be the same for Archangel’s Viper.

    • Ooo that’s nice you got a signed copy of Silver Silence, hopeful you can do the same for Viper. Viper was wonderful. Ya, I love getting to go on a book shopping spree. So much fun. Thank’s Kathryn for stopping in. Have a great August and Happy Reading!

  2. Sounds like a great month. I grabbed a few of those freebies (now to fit them into my reading schedule). Glad to hear that hubs is back on his feet. It is always nice to have some help around the house. Enjoy all of your new books. 🙂

    • July was a good month and I do so like freebies even if I haven’t read them =/. Hope you enjoy the ones you picked up. Yes, it is helpful that he’s back on his feet. Keeping fingers crossed it stays that way. ^_^

  3. Hi,

  5. Wow, you have had quite the busy month! Happy belated birthday, too! Glad that you were able to splurge on yourself- and your mom! I love the messenger bag you got, so cute! I got the Prime book deal too- I preordered two books bwhahah. And I got an air mattress because I didn’t have one. Pretty random. Congrats on completing your Goodreads Challenge, too- that is super impressive, especially since it is only July! Also glad you’re joining our Discussion Challenge, we’re happy to have you aboard!! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂 And I hope you have a wonderful August, too!

    • Hi Shannon,

I’m glad I stumbled upon the Discussion Challenge. I’ve been enjoying all the different topics and posts everyone has been sharing and I’ve been adding a few. This year is my first year opening up more and also doing discussion topics on the blog. I’ve also added food posts and movie reviews. It’s a change, but so far I’ve had positive response to it all. ^_^

It was fun to splurge. I also preordered a book, but after prime day. Prime day is a day to pick up random items. I sometimes buy things I had my eye on, but just needed that discount to get me to pick it up.

Thank’s for the belated birthday wish. I really like my messenger bag. I use it every day. Tororo is my favorite. I just love the movie. July was busy, but also fun. I love summer.

Thank’s for stopping in. Happy Reading and have a great August! ^_^

  6. Oh I hope your mom likes the Kindle Fire. I know how it goes-my mom would have never given up her blackberry if her company didn’t FORCE her to get an iPhone. I got her a kindle but she still prefers actual books.
I hope you have a great August!

    • It a challenge to get my mom to use any type of technology. Even a GPS device, she has trouble with =/. I hope she likes the Fire 7. She spends a lot of her time outside on her deck look out over the lake and she has mentioned how she wants to read, but doesn’t get how to go onto Amazon and purchase them. Even shopping online she has trouble with. So my hope is that the Fire 7 device will be easy for her to understand and look at books and then purchase if she wants. We will see in November how it goes.

August is going to be fun. Grandparents are visiting before the grandkids go back to school. I’ve got the blog full and real life will be active. Have a great week.

  7. whoohee….look at all you got done this month, and so many books. I just loved So I Married A Sorcerer, so dang good. I noticed you grabbed up Laura Kaye’s books, and I loved Ride Hard so much.

    • Ya, I grabbed Laura Kaye. Book one was a good start, two had me all over the place with my emotions, and 3 I’m so excited for. I’ve been waiting for Cora’s story. I loved the teasers of her throughout and also Slider and his kids, awww. It was a busy month, but loads of fun. I love July! I resonantly finished So I Married A Sorcerer. It was good. I had fun. Thank’s for stopping in. Always a pleasure!

  8. Holy cow Angela what a productive month. I’ve got the Jennifer Ashely Adam book in my audible library so thanks for the heads up with your review. How is it almost August LOL

    • I can’t believe we are halfway though the year. August is up next and school is starting soon. WOW. I know my July was a productive month. Lots happened in real life and on the blog. Glad to give you the heads up on Adam. I love Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound and well deiced to try something else by her. It was enjoyable. I might pick up the next, who knows! Have a week and happy reading.

  9. WOW! You have been really busy haven’t you. I love the tops you bought!! They are gorgeous!! I’m jealous because you can read different books from any series and author. And in any order. With my OCD I have to buy in series and from authors I buy the series from. I had to laugh when you said your furbaby sneaks over tot the veggies and sneaks them. So adorable. At least he is getting his veggies! 🙂 Thank you for keeping up posted monthly. I love to see what you have read and like to hear about the fun things in your life. It always puts a smile on my face. I hope your birthday is perfect!!

    • Mary, Thank you! It’s wonderful to know that you are enjoying this post and what is featured on the blog as well as learning a little about me the blogger behind the scenes. ^_^ The Sunday Post where fun when I started, but with life changing I moved things around and started the Monthly. I like the Monthly Wrap up. It’s fun to put together and talk about what happened in that month on the blog and in real life. I always love seeing you visit and thank’s for commenting. It makes my day brighter. Here’s to the end of July and looking forward to August and school starting for many ^_^.
