My Followers Asked Me Questions and I Answered

Posted on by

A while back I put up a post 10 Quick Things About Me. I asked you my followers to ask me questions. Things you wanted to know about me, the blog, and more….

Without further ado here is what was asked:

Lara M. asked – Book you’d love to see made into a movie?

This is a hard one. I love watching movies, but when it comes to adapting a book into a movie, several key elements get left out, that I as the reader, get disappointed.

I’d love to see the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews turned into a TV show or Movie(s). And, also maybe Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh.

Sarah W. asked – Who is your go to author?

I don’t even have to think: Ilona Andrews. Why you might be asking. It’s because each time I pick up one of their books it’s like the very first time reading. I’m giddy, I’m happy, & I have a book hangover.

Samantha @ The Book Disciple asked – What book do you wish more people knew about?

This is tough. I read a lot of new releases. I read a lot of name brand authors, so looking through my list of 5 star reads throughout my years of blogging I’d go with: Waking the Dragon (Vale of Stars, #1) by Juliette Cross & Kissed By A Demon Spy by Sharon Kay.

Mary H. asked – Do you read series or do you prefer to go all over?

I liked to read all different kinds of things, wither it’s part of a series or not. As long as it appeals to me I’ll give it a go.

Now for series books I prefer to read them in order. Now, this doesn’t always happen. I may pick up a book and not realize it’s part of a series until I finish or I know it’s a part of a series, but the blurb and reviews have said it works as a standalone, so I then jump in.

Tammy V. asked – Cover do overs or no? Do you buy all the covers, the originals only, or just your favorites?

Oh boy! Covers!! It so depends on do overs or not. I prefer an author to pick a cover and stay with it for that book or a style for a series, but that doesn’t always happen. The author my just deiced they don’t like the cover and change it. Well then I’m not so happy, but if they are signed to a publishing company and it closes it’s doors, well then the author may have to remove the cover and republish with a newer one. That I’m ok with. I can understand they may not have the wrights to that cover and so they have to rebrand.

What I dislike is midway through a series an author decides they want to redo the covers and so, they change the covers to the previous releases and the new ones coming out. Well then we have two different editions. The first and the second. An example of this would be Setta Jay’s Guardians of the Realms series. I LOVE the series and the author, but halfway through the series she deiced to change the covers. The new covers are more colorful and I like them. I also like the older simpler ones too. But, now I’ve got half the series in new, while the other half is the old covers. Does this make any sense?

As for buying originals or favorites. I don’t buy too many paperback/hardcover books now a days. Most of my collection is eCopies and if the covers get changed, the eCopy covers change with it, so I don’t have to think about having the old cover. I’ll have the newest cover.

Danielle H. asked – What is your favorite flower?

Calla Lily & Hibiscus

Mary K. @ Dark Thoughts asked – Do you have a special talent?

Nope. I can’t tie a cherry steam into a bow or knot with my mouth. I can’t do origami even though I’ve tried. I’m not good at painting. I do love to color in the adult coloring books, but as for a talent sadly I don’t have one.

Jen B. asked – How did you meet your significant other?

Well that’s a story! I’m a shy person, then and now. I meet my hubby in College. I attended Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, an all girls school, but by then they where letting males attend too. My hubby was attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology it’s the sister school to mine, use to be all male, but is now co-ed. So the schools have dances aka get togethers or mixers (LOL). I was not going to attend the dance at our school, just hang out in my dorm room, but all three of my roommates where like you have to go (pier pressure), so I got dragged along. I’m not much on big groups, so I just ended up sitting around, bored, and along comes this guy and sits at the same table. We introduce ourselves and got to talking. We spent the entire time talking and getting to know each other. And, so one thing lead to another. We dated for 5 years; before we got married and have been married for 10 years now.

Liz D. asked – What was your first horse named?

I grew up on a farm. My parents breed and raised Quarter Horses mostly; besides a few other breeds later on. I actually got to help with the births (my dad’s a veterinarian) and I also got to nick name all the horses we owned, but my very first horse was a pony that I got on my 8th birthday. I named her Julie.

Cali W. asked – What is your favorite holiday?

To be honest. I don’t have one. As a kid I loved Halloween and Christmas, but now as an adult I’ve lost that wonder. Though I’m starting to see it again now that I have a child.

Cali W. asked – Favorite place to go?

Grand Cayman. I have such fond memories growing up visiting the Island with my family and cousins. Now though any beach in a warm climate that’s not to over crowed is my favorite place to go.

Cali W. asked – What is your favorite social media site?

Cali W. asked – Do you have a favorite super hero/heroine?

The Black Widow aka Natasha Romanova.

Jana L. asked – What is it about The Big Bang Theory that you love?

The characters and quirkiness of the show. The nerdiness of the guys and that one person (Amy) has changed their lives and helped them grow a little. It’s also great to see women as scientist. It’s become a fun show, one that I like to watch over and over again.

Sue @ Crushingcinders asked – Your graphics are beautiful, how do you design them?

Thank you Sue. I use Canva to design and create all the banners, teasers, and pictures featured on the blog and social media sites. I have found that Canva is the easiest site for me to understand and put things together.

As for all the pictures on the site I take my own photos, I also have bought some graphics and images (like the Angel) off VectorStock, and last I use All The Free Stock website to find free photos. Their is the whole copyrights deal which I don’t understand, so I avoid pulling images off google or other sites.

Breeny’s Books asked – Tips for newbie bloggers and book reviewers.

I put up some tips on the 10 Quick Things About Me page under her comment. This question I feel requires it’s own post and I will be putting one together in the future, but in the mean time you can swing by the 10 Quick Things page and read what I wrote if you like.

Well that does it. Wow, now you know a little more about me. I hope you enjoyed!
Thank you to everyone who asked a question!

Have more questions?
Feel free to comment and I’ll put another post together for you.

    • Hmmm I’m feeling like a reread of Kissed by a Demon Spy… It’s been a while and I really loved it. I liked her series too and the spin-off one too. Glad you enjoyed. Thank’s for stopping by, Mary.

  3. Great Q+A!!! Shared on my socials!

    • Thank you for stopping in and sharing!

  4. somehow I missed your questions post…must have been before I discovered your lovely site here. But some wonderful questions you answered here. I would love the psy changeling series as movies or a series too. Although the Kate Daniels series would be great too.

I also use canva for my designs and then purchased all the art online.

I do agree about Goodreads. Mostly because it focuses on books and that is what I like to talk about the most. Facebook and Twitter can be so depressing sometimes.

    • I’m happy to have you around now. Canva is my favorite for making designs and almost all of my pictures used are purchased, only a few come of the free sites. Ya, I’m with you on Goodreads. I like the focus being books. I’m also with you on FB and Twitter they can be a bit depressing at times. Thank’s for stopping in and checking out my post.

  5. I love book recommendations, so my question is “What are your TOP TEN favorite books?” I know it’s a harsh question to name only ten.. haha.. Sorry. ?
Geybie’s Book Blog recently posted…Recommend Me Books – Mystery, Horror, ThrillerMy Profile

    • Ok… That is a tough question and one I will have to think about… I’ll get back to you on that as soon as I figure it out. ^_^

I’ve never thought about my TOP TEN favorite. I like soooo many… Let’s see in no particular order:

      1) Well any Ilona Andrews books. I can’t get enough of their writing. As soon as pre-order goes up I’m buying in paperback and eCopies. Yep, I get both. I’m now trying out the audios from my library and well if I like them enough I’ll be buying audios too. Don’t ask me to pick a favorite in the series. I might be able too, but it’s tough.

      2) The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs… I really love Mercy. She’s a kick-ass chick, a mechanic, and she knows how to handle all those werewolves. I’ve re-read and currently am listening to the series for the first time… Don’t ask me to pick a favorite in the series. I might be able too, but it’s tough.

      3) First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeanine Frost – Bones is awesome I love him, but when Spade was introduced. I feel hard and loved it when he got his own story. I’ve reread this one a couple of times now.

      4) Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward – Zsadist & Bella’s story is outstanding. I LOVE these two together. Just so emotional and memorable. As for the rest of the BDB. I use to love the series and still do, but only the early books. I stopped just before THE KING was released. I may get back to it some day, but to many unanswered storylines not finished.

      5) Dark Wolf (Dark #25) by Christine Feehan – Skyler & Dimitri’s story was a long time coming. She had to come of age first. Waiting for this one was tough, but well worth it. I feel in love.

      6) Dragon Kin series by G.A. Aiken – I enjoy them all, but my favorite is What a Dragon Should Know featuring Gwenvael & Dagmar. These two seem like an unlike pair, but they fit together perfectly. Loved it!

      7) Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh – Ok this one I have several favorites. My top three are: Heart of Obsidian, Kiss of Snow, & Caressed by Ice. Fabulous series. So many wonderful characters to fall in love with. I’m love the spin-off with Psy-Changeling Trinity Series she is doing. Can’t wait for more.

      8) Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley – My favorites are the ones with human/shifter pairings. Bodygurard, Hard Mated, Tiger Magic

      9) Oracle’s Moon (Elder Races #4) by Thea Harrison – Khalil, Demonkind and Djinn & Grace. You don’t see many Dijinn books. This one captured me. These two have an interesting relationship and watch it grow and develop was fascinating. Plus their are children in the story and I always find kids add to the book.

      10) Primal Force (K-9 Rescue) by D.D. Ayres – I discovered D.D. Ayres this year and no she’s not new, but I just found her and I’m loving her K-9’s and hard core men and women. This one is my favorite in the series so far. Featuring Jori, Lauray, & Sam (k-9). It was brilliant to give the reader the K-9, Samantha’s, perspective in this novel which added a whole new dimension, along with Jori and Law’s.

      • Oh wow, awesome!!! Ilona Andrews is one of the new to me authors that has been recommended by many readers/book bloggers (friends). Almost everyone I know LOVES her books. And of course, Zsadist. He is one of my favorite heroes!!! One of my first loves and still at the top list of my all-time favorite MC.

        Awesome list!! ?❤️??
        Thanks for answering my question.

          • Feel free to add to your featured list. I’m happy to share my favorites and help fellow book lovers find great reads.

        • Andrews is a high recommendation. I LOVE their books. I’m with you on Zsadist he captured my heart the first time I met him in BDB and when he got his story I feel even more.

Happy to answer and share. I really had to stop and think, because I don’t keep track very well on those I have come to love. ^_^

  6. I missed asking a question but these were some good ones! It’s great getting to know you!
