Interview: Co-Authors Cheri Schmidt & Tristan Hunt (Other Worlds Anthology) ~ Excerpt

Posted on by

Hello and Welcome All!

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Cheri Schmidt and Tristan Hunt, co-authors of The Little Witch and the Big, Bad Werewolf, which is part of the Other Worlds Collection.

Hi Cheri and Tristan, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

How did you choose the genre you write in?

Cheri Schmidt: The story chose me, no choice in the matter. I read more of the fantasy genre so I suppose it was only natural for fantasies to come out of me. Fateful, my first book, was based on The Frog Prince…except the ‘frog’ is a Vampire. Fell right into paranormal romance.

When not writing what do you like to do for relaxing or fun?

Cheri Schmidt: I like running, but I also like watching movies…TV. I read and listen to audiobooks in my spare time as well. I’m a full time mom too, so there you go.

What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?

Tristan Hunt: Your favorite scenes to write involve fairies and food. Both, preferably.

Cheri Schmidt (laughing): Magical scenes, I guess, yeah. And making the emotional connections between characters.

If you could swap lives with the heroine of any book, which book would you choose and why?

Cheri Schmidt: When I was younger and reading the Chronicles of Narnia, I wished to be Lucy, discovering a world in a wardrobe and having such a magical adventure.

Please tell us about the characters in your book?

Madison Veil is a witch from a long line of powerful witches and warlocks. They are unique amongst their kind for one reason: The Veiling Spell. It is the only spell within the world of witchcraft that can be used on oneself, and therefore highly coveted. Madison is the only remaining member of her family and has been forced to move from one country to another in hiding…to protect her family’s precious secret from those who would kill her to steal it.

Finding herself a little too comfortable in the cozy English town of Youlgreave, Madison falls in love with an American tourist, Jake Harmon, despite her best efforts. When a constable goes missing, rumors of ‘wolf men’ lurking in the forest ravage the small village. Madison is devastated when Jake is revealed to be a werewolf. Although, she has a few secrets of her own, which Jake begins to unravel as their romance heats up.

As the past comes back to haunt Madison and romantic rivals threaten her young love, she attempts to cure Jake of his horrible affliction while an angry gang of werewolves lead by an evil former vampire, Lucas, hatch plans to take over the entire territory.

It’s good against evil as the little witch must face the wolves at her door in this epic paranormal romance!

Please share the opening lines of this book?

“Forgive me for intruding, darlin’, but I feel it’s my duty to warn you that dancing naked around a fire could be hazardous. You never know what kind of creep may happen by and see you,” a rumbling male voice said, catching her completely by surprise. Madison couldn’t decide which parts of herself to cover up as she whirled around. Her feeble attempts at doing so were pretty lame. “By all means, continue. Don’t let me interrupt,” he said, gifting her with a handsome wink, and added, “I myself am not a creep.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book:

Tristan Hunt:  I chose the setting without having a clue that’s where Cheri’s family is from…Derbyshire!

This is Cheri and Tristan’s 7th book together, currently working on the 8th! The Little Witch and the Big, Bad Werewolf is the 11th book in Cheri’s Fateful Vampire Series…the first not to focus on vampires!

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

Cheri Schmidt, author of the successful Fateful Vampire Series, and Tristan Hunt, a seasoned audiobook narrator, decided to start writing together in 2016.

Having come from artistic backgrounds, Cheri as a photographer and designer, Tristan as a musician and performer, they’ve often joked while embarking on this unexpected journey that they are ‘two creative, non-writers, writing together.’ The union came about as a gradual progression over the past three years as the two storytellers worked together to bring Cheri’s books to life through audio. The duo worked so well it was only natural to begin telling the stories together moving forward.

Cheri writes from her home in the wilds of Utah, while Tristan writes in Los Angeles, symbolic of two very different perspectives enriching the tales they tell! Their next paranormal romance, The Little Witch and the Big, Bad Werewolf, is part of the Other Worlds Collection, a special $0.99 boxed set bundle of 20 PNR and SFR novels for a limited time. Book Title: The Little Witch and the Big, Bad Werewolf

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Short Teaser About Book: Hiding out amongst the non-magical world of rural England ever since her family was killed for their powerful secrets, a young witch unexpectedly falls in love with a charming American werewolf, putting herself and her coveted spell book in mortal danger.

Chapter 1

The Hazards of Dancing in the Nude

“Forgive me for intruding, darling, but I feel it’s my duty to warn you that dancing naked around a fire could be hazardous.

Madison found that highly doubtful, especially when she took in how attractive this American stranger was. Why did all the good-looking men have their minds in the gutter? Or was it just men in general? Deciding it was probably the latter based on past experiences, Madison looked squarely at the rugged man standing before her, feigning a confidence she wasn’t totally feeling, and tried to remember which tree branch she’d draped her dress on earlier.
