Angel’s Monthly Wrap Up – Oct. 2017

As you are reading this The Angel Clan will be on vacation in Florida, so for the first week and half of November the blog will be mostly quiet. I’ll share when I get back all the fun we had on our vacation.

As for October it has been a quiet month. I’ve been in a reading rut. Nothing new has intrigued me, so I’ve been listening to a lot of my favorite reads/series. I LOVE the Andrews team, Patricia Briggs, and Nalini Singh, so I deiced to give their books a try in audio. I’m really enjoying audiobooks. I wasn’t sure how I’d like them, but they have their advantages. As for reading it just hasn’t been my thing lately, but audios have grabbed me. I did a post on the blog here in October about Discovering Audiobooks. I asked for some audio advice on subscriptions. Thank you to everyone who commented. Since that post I’ve been picking up what I can at my library, but I also signed up to try out the 30 day free trial of Audible. I wanted to do Kobo, because they where cheeper, but they are like my library and don’t have all the audios in a series yet. Maybe I’ll switch to them once they get a bigger selection, who knows.

What else did we do in October. Oh ya, we went to see The LEGO Ninjago Movie (2017) together as a family in the theater. I had a migraine that day and so it wasn’t fun for me, but my son had a wonderful time. He was so happy!! AYSO soccer is going strong. My boy is getting better and having fun. Also Kindergarten has been fabulous! He loves it and I’m so happy he loves school.

October ends with a bang, a school halloween parade, a pirate grabbing for candy gold, & a balloon Ninjago. I hope everyone had a happy & safe halloween. My son’s school did a halloween parade and a party. Then we went out in the evening for trick-or-treating.

  1. I know I’m a bit late to this post, but I have to ask. In the audio of Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh Faith talks to the Netmind. A few of the Netmind’s lines are just “?????”, how does the narrator handle that? I’ve always been curious.

  2. Have you checked out the new Romance package from audible? Its like KU for audiobooks!

    • Thank’s Samantha for mentioning it. I just heard about he Romance Package the day I left on vacation, so no I haven’t had a chance to try it out or look into it. That was my understanding on what I got from The Book Nypho’s post on it. I’ll look into it once I get back from vacation.

  3. It does look like you have had a great month here. I have tried the Lego movies but haven’t enjoyed them as much as I thought that I would.

So many great books you grabbed up and I love the MC series Laura Kaye has been writing.

    • I’m not a fan of the LEGO movies, but my son loves them, so I’ve watched several over and over as well as the LEGO series episodes they have too.

Ya, lots of great books. Not much reading or listening on my vacation, since we are at Disney and it’s go go go from the time the sun is up until it goes down. I do really enjoy Laura Kaye’s MC series she has. I’m hoping I can get to Ride Wild very very soon. I want to have time to saver it from start to finish. ^_^

  4. Oh exciting! Hope you’re having a good time away!

    • OMG, our Disney vacation is fabulous so far. Today Nov. 3rd is my boys Birthday and it was all about him. We did so many celebrations, presents, characters, and more. We’ve only done 2 parks so far, but we plan to visit them all. Thank’s Anna for stopping in. Always a pleasure to have you swing bye.

  5. I love Patricia Briggs, too; I picked up Moon Called when it was first out and I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m enjoying the changes in the world, as the fae act. I also have had the pleasure of meeting her a few times, and she is delightful and funny.
I really have to check out Nalini Singh’s books. Is there a good starting book you’d recommend?

    • For Singh I started with her Psy-Changeling series. Any book of Singh’s the series ones need to be read in order, at least for Psy-Changeling and Guild Hunter. After I read all of Psy-Changeling, (everyone said if I like that one then I’d like the Guild Hunter) so I then picked up Guild Hunter series and got hooked on it too. Both are favorites, but the Psy-Changeling is my top pick. I haven’t tried her Contemporary yet. I am working on both her PNR series now in Audio. Briggs is amazing and I just love the Audiobooks for both Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series. Both are great!! ^_^

  6. You got some GREAT audios! I love Andrews & Singh in audio. The best. I’m a little late getting my monthly wrap up done. Hopefully today. It’s been a crazy week and from the looks of things it is going to be getting crazier with a move in store. Pray for me! LOL

    • I hope your week is going well and isn’t too crazy. We are having fun, but Disney is crazy and when you have 2 sets of grandparents and 1 set of great-grandparents, well it makes that much more crazy…. We are having a blast though and celebrating my boys birthday. Take care and thank’s for stopping in, Tanya.

  7. Great wrap up Angela! I hope you and your family have a great time! Shared on all my socials!!

    • Kathy, thank you for always sharing. It’s much appreciated. We are having a BLAST so far at Disney. My boy just turned 6 today Nov. 3rd and it was a day of Birthday Celebrations and fun for him and use.

  8. Whew, busy month Angela. Great Halloween pics thanks. I love my library too, I volunteer at my local branch and I’m on the Board of Directors, very important Libraries are thanks for highlighting

    • I LOVE to support my library. I’m a member of our Millbrae Family Library Family and I don’t books after I’m done with them and also pick up several on the sale days besides borrowing from them ^_^. I’m so happy that I get to host the Library Love Challenge and showcase all the lovely items I pick up from my local library throughout the year. It’s one of my favorite challenges to do.
It sure was a busy month on the blog. In RL a little quite, but still eventful with soccer on the weekends and school activities, plus Halloween at the end. Have a fabulous November! Happy Reading.

  9. Some great looking books and you have been quite busy. Enjoy the vacationsherry @ fundinmental

    • My son was up at 4am this morning and our flight isn’t until 1pm…. It’s going to be a long day, but he’s so excited to visit Disney World and celebrate his Birthday their. We are all excited. We LOVE Disney as a family. Have a wonderful November and thank you for stopping in. Happy Reading!

  10. Sonds like you and your son had fun on Halloween. Glad you are taking some time out for a vacation. We are going to the Caribbean at the end of November early December to get away for a bit ourselves. Our pet nanny will be taking care of our daughter. She will not be happy that we are not here. hopefully some November releases will be of some interest for you. Have fun and stay safe.

    • Our dog is at the boarders and she was not happy that I left her. I usually take her with me to work and then we come home, but this time she had to stay. I got the sad face =( !!! Halloween was a blast. My son was so excited to dress up and go Trick or Treating. We have one street in our town that is the hub pub for Trick or Treating and boy did he get some great candy. I’m excited and ready for vacation. It will be so nice to get away. It won’t be very relaxing, but it will be fun. Disney is an active environment and with family from both sides coming too it’s going to be a party. ^_^ I hope you have a great Caribbean trip. I love the Caribbean. Ride Wild by Laura Kaye came out the last day in Oct and I’ve been waiting for this one since it was announced, so hopeful it will pull me out of my slump. I also have some review books I need to get too, but I’m not feeling in the mood. Hopeful this time away will also clear my reading rut. Have a great November and Happy Reading!

I would love to hear from you!
