May was a slow month for the blog. We went on vacation to Grand Cayman. I’ll be putting a post together to showcase all the fun pictures and things we did, but here is a little Cayman Sunset for you ^_^.

Beside our vacation my son has 1 week – 5 days of school left, before Summer Vacation. OMG where did the time go? My little kindergartner is growing up. Here is some of what he did throughout the year.

Empowering my kid to read!!

We received our 1st Prime Book Box for Kids this month. You can check it out on the post HERE. My son loved getting a surprise package in the mail.

During the school year they send home those Scholastic Book Club papers, where you can order books for your kids and help support the school. I remember as a kid getting my books from the Scholastic. At the time it was the only way to get books unless you had a store near you, which we didn’t. For my son I hadn’t order anything all year, but deiced that this is the last one coming, so I ordered the Dog Man Books and some Ninjago combo pack of books. My son likes both! He is a 6-year-old boy ^_^.

Next up I had a flower growing in my garden that I didn’t know what it was. I asked and everyone said an Iris, well when it bloomed it was an Iris. It’s a leftover from the previous home owner and I’m glad I kept watering it, so I could enjoy.

Mother’s Day was in May and my hubby and son got me KLASK: The Magnetic Game of Skill. It’s fun!!

Last a few other things on the blog: I set up a page that showcases what My Stars Mean. You will no longer see this on the side bar now that it has it’s own page. Under Reviews in the top bar you can now see the Audiobook Review List, Audiobook Reviews by Narrator List, Book Reviews Alphabetized by Author List, and last Movie Review List. That’s all the new changes to the blog besides the Privacy Policy added to the Policies Page under the About at the top bar menu.

May I Suggest Hop – Erin M was the winner and she picked an eCopy of How to Save an Undead Life

  1. I remember getting books from Scholastic at school too. I can’t believe it is already June. Time flies man.

    • Oh I know… The time has really gone by. Scholastic (at least for me) back in the 80’s and early 90’s was the only way small towns could get books beside the library, but then the library didn’t have a big selection. Now we have so many different options on finding great books to enjoy!!

  2. I look at this post and think wow you have been so busy on the blog this month! The privacy thing I still have to do but I’ll keep it as simple as possible. You are well organised. The Cayman photos are beautiful. I love how your son is building a love for books aided and abetted by yourself!

    • This was a slow month on the blog… ^_^ Though for some it could be busy. The privacy thing was such a hassle and then I lost several email followers, but I guess if they didn’t open their mail to begin then they weren’t really following. Oh Well!! I try to stay organized on the blog and in RL. It was important to me to get my son hooked on books. As a baby we read all the time and we continue to read every night. He likes to pick out what is read and I like to encourage him to pick books out at the library too. Thank’s Kathryn for visiting.

  3. I love Ancient Magus Bride! I

    • I picked it up because Ilona Andrews said in one of her blog posts she was watching the TV Show. I went to Amazon to see if it was available in Prime, but nope, so I went to my library to pick up the manga titles. ^_^

  4. Great wrap up angela! You were a very busy lady!! Shared on all my socials!!

    • May didn’t feel all that busy. It felt a little slow at least for the blog and reading, but for real life it was a little busy, but also relaxing what with the family vacation. Thank’s Kathy for always visiting and sharing.

  5. I started reading the Shelly Laurenston Pride series this month too. I got Mane Event in, but then I got the audio of Ocean Light from Tantor and I had to start that puppy right away! I really enjoyed your reviews on the Ella Summers Legion of Angels series. I really loved that series and wish they would hurry up and put that last book out in audio. I want to listen to it, but if they wait much longer I might just have to grab it in ebook.

So jealous of your vacation! That beach sure looks nice. Was it very hot? We are dealing with really hot temps right now and all I’m thinking about is somewhere with a nice breeze and some fun cocktails!

This whole GDPR thing has me so confused, and I’m not sure I have everything set right yet. I don’t think Disquis, who I use for my comments has many options in their plugin yet. I am also not sure how you guys are doing the cookies thing. I just got totally lost and did a few minor things I picked up from blog posts. I did get a privacy page up, but it is just an edited copy of WP’s standard one they give you. What a hassle. Glad you were able to get it all together. I’ll have to hit you up for some help once I see what I’m missing if you don’t mind!

I love seeing the young being encouraged to read. I’m glad that there are still some of us that really pay attention to reading to their kids and getting them to enjoy books early on. My daughter loved to at your son’s age. I finally got her back into reading not long ago, but college has put off any fun reading.

    Have a great June!

    • Oh yes Ocean Light…. I hope you are enjoying. I’m enjoying the audio for the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston and I’m also listening to Shards of Hope too. I’m glad you enjoy the reviews for Legion of Angels. I had a fabulous time reading those books. I still need to read book six.

My vacation was so very relaxing. It was 80 with a nice breeze, so very conformable, but then we get home and it was 80 with no breeze and living in CA well we have no A/C so we need that breeze to help cool off the house and stay cool. ^_^ But that only lasted 2 days then it dropped and we are down to 60’s again.

I’m still confused on the whole GDPR thing, but I think I got it what with the Privacy Policy (I used the http://www.privacypolicyonline.com to make my policy and I added stuff to it so it’s custom to my blog), the comment thing that people have to check the box, and cookies (WordPress add in the Widget section/Plugin a “Cookies & Consent Banner (Jetpack))” so that does the EU consent thing. If you have questions I’ll try to help.

Ah yes, College can do that. I read mainly Manga in High School, then went off to College and didn’t read anything, but once I was out of College my husbands aunt got me back into reading and now I love it again. I feel it’s so important to get kids into reading! I hope my son will continue to love and enjoy.

Happy Reading and have a great June too!
