SUMMER BREAK is in full swing. The last day of school was a party day and early dismissal. My son said Goodbye to Kindergarten and Hello to First Grade… Grandma also came to visit on the last day of school and stayed for a week of fun. They painted a birdhouse, painted several picots, played games, and went for walks. We also took a 3 day mini-vacation with grandma where we went to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Amusement Park, then took a little drive on HWY 1 to the McWay Falls, and back to San Francisco.

The FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia started in June and we have been watching all the games. We are big football fans and this year the World Cup has been very entertaining and bloody. Wow the collisions, fighting for the ball, etc.. has had some injuries that where brutal.

This summer I planned several summer activities to keep our boy entertained. I’ve got swim lessons going all summer long, soccer class once a week, and several different week long camps, that take place in the AM for 3 hours, throughout the summer break scheduled. This week my son took part in BRAIN: Invention Creation Camp – “Create your own toys using motors, cable, light bulbs, and other materials to make artifacts that you can play with. Learn about machines and vehicles.” Doesn’t that sound like a fun? I never had these cool camps when growing up. I’m a bit jealous. We also have been doing the Summer Enrichment Series Grade 1 that is being offered in June and July at our Library.

A little news on the blog: If you don’t know or haven’t noticed yet, I’ve got a page set up called My Stars Mean. If you every want to know what my rating means this page has it. I also have at the top menu under Reviews an audiobook review list featuring all audiobook reviews and an audiobook reviews by narrator. So, if you are ever looking for a review check under the Reviews section or type in the title of a book in the search engine on the side bar.

We had lots of winners on the blog this month.

  1. That BRAIN camp sounds like to much fun!! I want to go too! I think it’s awesome that your newsletter has an option to do weekly emails. I’ll have to look into mine to see if that’s a possibility.

  5. I love all the photos. It looks like a busy month. I went to summer camps when I was a kid, but I don’t remember them being very fun. They were like going to school, but outside. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great July!

    • I know, my summer camps weren’t all the great. Thank you AJ for visiting and have a great July. Happy Reading!

  6. I love the idea of that creative summer camp! We didn’t have such things here in the UK when I was a kid (or even now I think), possibly because the holidays aren’t so long?

    • I’ve got about 2 maybe 2 1/2 months to fill with actives for summer break here in the US before he starts 1st grade. I never had any of these fun creative camps growing up, but that could be I grew up in a small town. We now live in a big city, so their are more options. I’m excited for next week… It’s Spy Camp. That sounds cool and fun! Thanks’ Stephanie for visiting. Have a wonderful day and week.
