Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Novellas and/or Short Stories

Posted on by

The Top Ten Tuesday post is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week we are featuring our favorite Novellas and/or Short Stories. I love when an author adds to her world/series with Novellas or Short Stories. I like to see what my favorite characters are up to or learn more about some secondary characters that you know won’t get a full novel, but get to have their on little Novella.

Take a look below at my Top 10 picks for favorite Novellas and/or Short Stories:

** Note: All pictures lead to my reviews on the blog.

Elder Race Series: I love the novellas in the Elder Races series. We get several featuring the Cuelebre’s Family, who start the series in Dragon Bound, but we also get other Novellas featuring secondary characters and those I have really come to love and enjoy over and over again.

Shifters Unbound Series: The Shifters Unbound series is another series I adore re-reading and just love all the characters. Several of the novellas sucked me in and I just love them. They feature several of the secondary characters we see in the full novels.

Gemini Series: This novella was so good. It features a changeling mermaid who is a secondary character in the Gemini Series. At the end of the Gemini series this character is in a bad way and is in Edelweiss trying to find her footing again or at least come to terms with what happened to her.

I’d love to hear from you!
What are some of your favorite Novellas and/or Short Stories?

  1. I LOVE the cover for Fish Out of Water (I think maybe I saw it on your blog previously?). It looks like the type of book I’d enjoy.

    • Yep, it’s been on the blog. I really loved the novella though I think you need to read the series it goes with since the character featured in it has a bad experience in the series and so she got her own book to heal and find herself. ^_^ It sure is an awesome cover. Thank’s for visiting.

  2. Great list! I don’t usually read the novellas and short stories that come with series. It’s hard enough to keep up with the main books sometimes.

    • ^_^ I can understand, but when I fall in love with a series I just have to devour all that is in that world. Thank’s for visiting AJ.

  3. My fave novella’s are the ones from 1001 dark nights!! They have a little of everything from erotica to paranormal to contemporary!! I love them!! Shared on all my socials!!

    • Oh, they are nice novellas. I’ve read a few of the 1001 Dark Nights. Thank’s for visiting and sharing you favorite.

  4. I really love novellas for series. It gives us the opportunity to spend some time with side characters that don’t get as much time in the main series. I’m also a huge fan of anthologies for series (Brief Cases/Side Jobs for Dresden Files, Shifting Shadows for Mercy Thompson/Alpha & Omega, there are a ton for Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series and Nalini Singh’s two paranormal series).

I’ve only read a few of the Elder Races shorts. Mostly the ones that feature the royal family. I love the Shifters Unbound novellas. I still have one on my list to read. I can’t remember which.

    • I agree novellas can give us a chance to visit side characters who don’t get as much time in the main series as well as see deeper into main characters lives. I really loved Shifting Shadows for Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega. I haven’t read the Dresden novellas yet and Kelley Armstrong her Otherworld is on my TBR too. Thank’s for visiting Melanie and sharing your favorites and how much you love Novellas. ^_^
