The Ancient Magus’ Bride has a lovely balance of fae, magic and supernaturals blending well together.
In Volume 4, we learn some of Elias’ history with Lindel and what he has experienced with humans. I liked that we learn more about Elias. I liked that in this one Chise was told not to be so passive and that she is coming into herself.
Their is one scene that bluntly describes the mages and how they often take apprentices. Now this master-apprentices which changes and becomes a spouse-spouse relationship was a bit weird to read and I balked at the idea, but I found that learning this dynamic helped clarify some things about their relationship. Kore Yamazaki somehow made their relationship less creepy; because of how she is developing the characters, how that the characters aren’t human and haven’t had similar experiences as humans do, so they have more freedom to be flexible in how things develop.
To sum up this was another enjoyable read in The Ancient Magus’ Bride.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride has a lovely balance of fae, magic and supernaturals. The artwork continues to be spectacular.
In Volume 5, we learn how Silky came to take care of Elias’ home. I loved learning about Silky’s past and what she is.
We also get to go to the Fairy Kingdom, because something is wrong with Chise. Their we learn that the fae world changes mortals and that’s not what Elias wants for her. While she is their Chise must save her own life or drown. This moment was powerful and great progress for the character. I also liked that we continue to see Elias having to faces unfamiliar human emotions which make the reader feel too.
Last, Volume 5 was a sad read for me; because the old man, Joel, down the lane that Chise befriend has something very wrong with him and it’s tied to the fae living with him. It was such a sad moment.
This series continues to be quite enjoyable to read.

The Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol. 6 focuses more on character development then anything else.
This one was a bit slower then the others. We see Alice return and Chise has made a friendship with her. We see Elias have a reaction to Chise having friends. And, we get the Ashen Eye story which was nice. Last, our evil villein makes an appearance at the end of the book.
As always the artwork remains stunning.
The Ancient Magus’ Bride Vol. 6 was enjoyable enough.
