#TFBRC – DNF

Posted on by

I’m so excited to join in on the fun with the Thankful For Books reading challenge! If you’d like more info and to check out the giveaways; click the link HERE!

Today’s challenge is DNF (Do Not Finish) books. It took me a long time to become comfortable with DNF’ing books. I still have trouble DNF’ing and It’s a work in progress, but I’m happy that I’ve started putting those books down that just aren’t working for me for one reason or another. When I do write a review for a DNF; I make sure to tell what I did like and what made me stop. Even if I do DNF a book it doesn’t mean the book won’t work for someone else. We all like different things!

Here are a few DNF books:

Books lead to my reviews on the blog.

What are some books you have DNF?

  1. I seldom DNF. Even if I don’t like a book, I usually still at least skim read till the end to find out what happens. 🙂

    • I don’t know how people can skim or skip some chapters. I never could do that. When I pick up a book I have to read it all or nothing. As for DNFing it’s still hard, but their comes a point when I do, but it’s rare.

  2. DNF is the one thing I hate about reviewing books. I hate to say that I couldn’t finish a book,so I do it very rarely. Besides my ocd won’t let me stop,I’m the type of reader that has to read books in order or I go bat shit crazy and not finishing a book does the same to me. The one thing that I love about your blog is that you don’t trash a book, you try to find the good and that’s awesome!! I have great respect for you and your blog because of this! Shared on all my socials!!??

    • It took me a long time to get comfortable with DNFing and it’s still hard for me too do. I’m glad to here you don’t mind the DNF reviews I do. I’ve always felt that you don’t need to trash a book, you just need to focus on what you liked and talk nicely about the things that didn’t work for you. Thanks’ for sharing your experiences with DNF.

  3. I picked up books based on DNF reviews before. I’ve only reviewed a few DNF books. I tried to include links to other bloggers I know that enjoyed the book. Like you, I also try to explain why the book didn’t work for me, but sometimes it’s hard. I do have a book by a favorite author, Kelley Armstrong, that I won’t call a DNF, because I plan to give it another try. I keep saying that I set it aside. But that was years and two books ago. LOL

    • It’s so hard when an author you love has a book that doesn’t agree with you and you set it aside and can’t bring yourself to DNF. Most of the DNF’s I get are from new to me authors or those free books I pick up to try which are first in a series. I’m like you I try to share what worked and what didn’t in my reviews and let people know that even though it didn’t work for me it might for them. Thank’s for visiting and sharing your DNF experiences.
