Viking’s Valor (Viking Ancestors: Rise of the Dragon) by Sky Purington ~ #Excerpt #BookTour

Redirecting his wrath, Håkon soared toward them and opened his mouth to rain down fire, only to shift back to his human form against his will. He had a split second to try to slow down with quickly dwindling dragon magic before he hit the ground hard and started rolling.

“Håkon!” Sage screamed from somewhere off to his left, before the warriors who had been running in fear from Håkon’s dragon turned and came at his far more vulnerable human form with their weapons drawn.

“I’m coming, Sage,” he roared as he focused on the warriors, his bloodlust growing stronger by the moment. His need to kill overwhelming. He had lost his weapons in the shift so he would have to get more.

Embracing an inner berserker that only seemed to be growing by the moment, he raced at the closest warrior, ducked beneath his blade then punched him hard before he side kicked another and scooped up the first warrior’s blade mid-air when he released it. Laughing, he spun and sliced open the other man’s throat then stole his ax.

By the time he started fighting the others he was already covered in blood and full of indescribable energy. Power. Not the magical sort but the kind a warrior feels when he knows his battle is already won. The certain knowledge that his opponents didn’t stand a chance against him.

Something they soon discovered as he unleashed pure hell on them.

Every last man here was Håkon’s as they fell beneath his blade, ax or whatever weapon he could put his hands on. The slaughter was swift and addicting as he left a trail of broken bodies behind him. As he reveled in the glory of battle and the pure rush it could offer.

Until he heard Sage scream again.

Snapping out of his raging bloodlust, he cut down the last two men and raced into the forest roaring her name. Moments later, thanks to strength and speed he knew weren’t quite his own, he caught sight of her ahead. She was flung over a warrior’s shoulder as he and several others rushed down the hill toward what appeared to be a sheer drop off.

Håkon whipped dagger after dagger and took three down. That left four, and he was closing in fast. He raced forward, opening a man up with a sword slice to his side in passing before slamming another warrior into a tree so hard his neck snapped.

That left two.

He whipped his ax into the back of one, warned Sage telepathically that he was coming in hard on the other. As it turned out, the man was so terrified at that point he didn’t slow but barreled straight for the cliff, clearly of the mind he would rather leap than face Håkon.

And he did.

Right off the edge with Sage before Håkon could stop him.

Cursed by her dragon ancestor, Sage is at the root of a burgeoning prophecy that threatens her sisters. The only way to protect them is to leave Winter Harbor, Maine, and travel back in time to tenth century Scandinavia. To travel back to Håkon and Leif, the men she left behind. Two warriors pitted against each other to win her over so they might strengthen their position in an ongoing war. Yet when she arrives, she’s captured by someone else entirely.

Set to annihilate his nemesis before he wreaks havoc and claims Sage as his own, Viking Håkon Sigdir pursues Leif. Until Sage is taken by Magnus of the Årud tribe. It then becomes a race to see who can save her first from the enemy’s rogue ally. A race that turns into a battle of wills as their rivalry for Sage intensifies.

Sparks fly as an age-old vendetta ignites a love triangle that threatens not just the fate of Håkon’s people but his very heart. Will Sage ultimately choose him or Leif? Will she see past the dark enchantment affiliated with her ancestor’s prophecy and realize who is destined for her? Better yet, will she see clearly the evil imposter? Because if she falls for Leif’s mock heroism rather than Håkon’s genuine valor, the war will be lost.
