Interview: CP Ward (I’m glad I found you this Christmas) ~ #BookTour

Hello and Welcome All!

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing CP Ward author of I’m Glad I Found You This Christmas.

Hi CP, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

For those readers not familiar with you, would you please tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m from Cornwall in the UK but for the last 15 years I’ve been living in Japan where I work full time as an English teacher. I’ve published more than twenty books across several pen names, in genres as far ranging as mystery, YA fantasy, dystopian SF, and sports fiction.

How do you relax?

I run, or I go hiking in the woods, or I play with my cats and daughter.

What is your favorite quote?

“A home without a cat is an empty shell”.

Does writing energize or exhaust you?

Drafting energizes me, revising and editing exhausts me.

Tell us about your favorite writing environment. Indoors, outdoors, a special room, etc.?

An easy chair on a cool morning, with rain falling outside. Never happens, though! I write at 4 a.m. in a pokey little back room that faces on to my neighbour’s wall.

If you could have dinner with any three authors (alive or dead, who would you choose and why?

Gillian Flynn (love her books), Iain Banks (likewise), Shakespeare, just to see if he talks the same way that he writes.

I’m Glad I Found You This Christmas……

Please share the opening lines of this book:

Would he pick up this time?

Maggie stared at Dirk’s picture on her smartphone’s screen, waiting for the inevitable referral to voicemail. What had happened to him recently? She knew he was busy at the company—and being the youngest member of the board of directors in the company’s history made it no surprise—but recently she’d begun to feel … well, she knew what Renee would say. Needing the comfort of her best friend’s words, she hung up and rang Renee instead.

Like clockwork, Renee answered on the second ring.

‘Lo?’

‘Ren, it’s me.’

‘Mag? A bit early for lonely hearts. What’s up? You got an hour for coffee?’

Please share a few Fun facts about this book:

I wrote it in May this year. It took 23 days to write the first draft, which is the fastest I’ve ever written a first draft. The cat, Miffy, is named after my cat. I kind of wish I was Henry. I can play chess a bit, and I’ve been trying to learn Walking in the Air on guitar to play at Christmas parties this year. I can do the chords but the fingerpicking is way too hard for me. Hollydell is designed as my ultimate Christmas fantasy. If such a place really existed, I’d live there without a doubt.

Using just 5 words, how would you describe Hero and Heroine’s love affair?

Brought together by a reindeer.

Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?

The Christmas pudding scene. That’s my idea of heaven.

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

No problem! Thanks for interviewing me.

I’m Glad I Found you this Christmas

I’m glad I found you this Christmas – an uplifting sweet romance set against the magical backdrop of Christmas.

Maggie Coates is frustrated. Her longterm boyfriend, Dirk, recently moved to London to take a job she fears puts him out of her league. Despite the assurances of her best friend Renee, Maggie is convinced Dirk is slowly drifting away. All Maggie wants is to get married and settle down, but maybe Dirk has other ideas.

Convinced by Renee to make one last throw of the dice, Maggie books a romantic holiday for two in the quaint Scottish village of Hollydell. But will Dirk show up?

And if he doesn’t, what if there is a perfect man waiting for her among the Christmas magic of Hollydell’s snow-laden streets? What if Henry, the humble reindeer farmer with the kind smile, turns out to be the man of Maggie’s dreams?

I’m glad I found you this Christmas is a glowing sweet romance which will leave you feeling warm inside and buzzing with Christmas spirit.
