The Grinch Book Tag

Posted on by

OMG, I’ve been waiting a whole year to do this tag.
I saw it on a GREAT read back in Dec. 2017 and didn’t have the time to do it then, so hear we are in 2018. The tag was originally featured on Cornerfolds and she initially saw it on Thoughts on Tomes.

HALF THE LIGHTS ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE ARE BURNT OUT
(Name a book/series/character that started out good, but went downhill)

The Crown Service Series started out good at least the first two books, but then book three was a long drawn out battle. No progress for the characters.
Then we have the Argenau Series. I loved the books up-to #18, but after that they started to go downhill. Same old. Same old. Not the same quirk’y fun they where at the beginning. It’s a long series and the books are still coming out. I am picking them up now and then, but I don’t expect to love them like I use too.

ANNOYING GREAT AUNT SALLY WHO WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE
(Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love it so it never goes away)

Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville #1) by Carrie Vaughn

YOUR PETS KEEP KNOCKING OVER THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
(Name a character that kept messing things up for everyone else. It can’t be a villain!)

I’m at a loss on this one…. I’m sure I’ve read a character that kept messing things up, but I can’t think of one at the moment.

YOU HEAR YOUR PARENTS PUTTING OUT THE PRESENTS AND LEARN SANTA ISN’T REAL
(Name a book you were spoiled for)

The King by JR Ward. I was anticipating this release so much…. And then I caught some twitter feed on things that happened in the book along with some review’s that didn’t say spoiler alert and well I haven’t been able to bring myself to read The King and continue the BDB series.

IT’S FREEZING OUTSIDE
(Name a main character you couldn’t connect with)

Charley Davidson from the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones

MARIAH CAREY’S ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU’ AND IT’S GIVING YOU ANTI-ROMANTIC FEELINGS
(Name a couple you couldn’t stand)

Jude Laurent & Ryanne Wade from Can’t Let Go by Gena Showalter
Josie & Haeden from Barbarian’s Mate by Ruby Dixon

HAT SCRATCHY HOMEMADE WOOL SWEATER YOU GOT FOR CHRISTMAS YEARS AGO BUT WON’T GET RID OF
(Show some books that have been sitting on your shelves for awhile, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of)

These are books on my bookshelf. I’ve got an eReader full of books, but I thought lets stick to the physical. Those featured are ones I’ve bought and won over the years. I’ve had them for some time now and still haven’t read them. I’ve got a box of books to read and 2019 is going to be the year I read them ^_^.

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER
(Name a character death that you are still mad about)

Aunt B from the Katie Daniels series. I cried some ugly tears and still do each time I read the book or think about Aunt B. I get it had to be done, but she was a fun character. All around this is an emotional read in more ways then one.

THE MALLS ARE OVERLY CROWDED WITH HOLIDAY SHOPPERS
(Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long)

The Argenau Series by Lynsay Sands
Carpathians (Dark) series by Christine Feehan

THE GRINCH
(name a main character that you hate)

Gabriel, or “G” to his friends and family from A Spoonful of Magic by Irene Radford
Tyler Creed from Tyler (Montana Creeds #3) by Linda Lael Miller

It’s almost Christmas, so why not have some fun with a bookish tag.

  1. Argh! Getting spoiled on a series you love is the worst! Hope you’re eventually able to pick those books up again.

    • Thanks and thank you for stopping in. This was a fun tag.

  2. I am sorry to hear that The King got spoiled for you. Whenever I read a book that is highly anticipated I never reveal spoilers on Twitter or anything. On Goodreads, I always mention it may have spoilers to warn people off. I did love that book though, so fun. Hope you can get back to the series sometime. I don’t mind spoilers at all, in fact if something intense or crazy happens I like to prepare beforehand. But that is just me personally. Love this tag and I LOVE The Grinch.

    • Glad you enjoyed the tag. With spoilers I like to be surprised. I want that wonder, that adventure, that unexpected moment.. Thank’s for visiting.

  3. Ha! How fun! Yes, Kitty for me as well. I read book one pre blog and meh. I thought I’d try again at some point but 7+ years later…still haven’t. lol

    • I read the 1st book and didn’t care for it, but I said I’ll give the 2 a try and see if things improve and well after book 2 I said no more. I couldn’t put myself through reading those books. Kitty never hit it off with me. Thank’s for stopping in!

  4. This was a very cute tag – what fun. Yes we are all mad about Aunt B. I laughed at the title of that tag though. Anne – Books of My Heart

    • It is a fun name for this tag. Ah Aunt B…. Thank’s for visiting!

  5. And, now I have a tag that I will keep in mind for next year. This is great, Angela.

I love how you just put it out there when even a popular book or series isn’t your thing. I think this year’s decisions like that for me were Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series when I stopped at #9 and I quit on Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series/universe at #5.
I sobbed over Aunt B’s death.
Oh, ouch on the spoiler. I’ve stayed up with the BDB series, but you’re right about it being tough to avoid spoilers.
I’ve got some big name/popular books collecting dust on my shelves, too. I made a big dent in those these last two years and have been better about not buying much.

    Loved your tag!

    • Glad you enjoyed. I haven’t read Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series yet, though many have said I should. I did start the Mortal Instruments, but I never got into it… I think I stoped at book 3 maybe 4. Ya, Aunt B… I cry every time I read that part over. I love the Kate Daniels series, so I’ve read it a lot and each time is like the first with the books and all the wonderful and sad things that happen. I was very excited for The King, but then I read about something (a spoiler) and it made me so sad I just couldn’t bring myself to read it. Maybe one day, but I don’t think I’ll ever get back to the series. His year I planned to read more older titles and the books on my self I’ve got, but I didn’t. I’m slowly working on them, but I keep getting new stuff from my library. ^_^ Thank’s for visiting.

  6. What a great tag! I too was upset about Aunt B.

    • Aunt B was a great character… I miss her, though I do understand her death, it’s hard to have a great character die… Thank’s for visiting.

  7. I wanna do this one too! I can’t believe you have Kresley Cole and Kate Baxter on your shelf and haven’t read them read! They are great! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

    • ^_^ Ya, I’ve got a lot on my shelf I haven’t read yet. I hope I enjoy them too! Thank’s for visiting.
