Top 10: Best New To Me of 2018

Posted on by

This week I’m recapping 2018 in books.
Today I’m featuring the best new to me authors and/or series that I read in 2018.

A Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas by Maisey Yates – Maisey Yates is a new author for me as is her Gold Valley series. I had a delightful time with this novel and plan to check out others in the Gold Valley series as well as other books by Yates. I enjoyed the Christmas time setting, our grumpy Cowboy, and his heroine’s quest to find family – roots.

Fighting for Everything by Laura Kaye – I’ve read Kaye’s Raven Riders series and loved those books. When she said she was going to be doing a new series featuring wounded service men I had to give it a go. I was blown away by this first book in the Warrior Fight Club. Kaye portrayed the struggles service man face coming home. It was accurate and so real. The romance was friends to lovers.

The One You Want by Gena Showalter – Showalter is not new to me, but her Original Heartbreakers series is. I lover her PNR series Lords of the Underworld and Angels of the Dark, so I decide to give her CR series a try. The novella that starts it off captured me with it’s sweet small town feel and how likable and easy it was to connect with the characters. I listened to the entire series and recommend the audio.

How to Date Your Dragon by Molly Harper – Harper’s new series Mystic Bayou is first being published in audio before coming to eCopy and print. I like the audio. I had fun with the duo POV and this interesting town.

Vampire’s Kiss by Ella Summers – Summers is a new author for me and her Legion of Angels series captured me from book one. After finishing I went out and bought all that where released to date and just read one after the other. It’s been a long time when I binged a series. The story is captivating and the romance/action are well balanced.

The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum by Kireston Weiss – Weiss is a new to me author and so is her Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum series. It’s got a teeny bit of paranormal to it, but what captured me was the museum, mystery, and town. It had a blast and have read all the books out to date. I plan to try other books by this author.

Memory Zero by Keri Arthur – Arthur is not a new to me author. I tried Full Moon Rising, but ended up DNFing it. It was years ago; before the blog. Many have recommended her to read and so, I deiced to give her another go and picked up the Spook Squad series. I read all three books in the series and wish their was more. It’s got a kick-ass heroine, loads of action, and some mystery to it. It was my kind of read.

Skin Deep by Mark Del Franco – Del Franco is new to me and so is the Laura Blackstone series. It was interesting. Confusing at first, but the more you dig into it the more you finally understand. I liked our lead Laura who is a spy and has multiple identities. She’s a Fay and so, she can change her appearance. I’ve got book two in this series to read and plan on checking out the Connor Grey series which is the main series and this one is the spin-off, I think.

Witch’s Reign by Shannon Mayer – Mayer has been on my TBR to try. She’s new to me and when Witch’s Reign popped up for sale, I grabbed. Discounted books will always get me. I can’t complain. I feel in love with this first book and went out and bought the rest of the series and then began to bing read. I loved the world and our lead heroine. Lots of action and adventure.

Alien Mate by Cara Bristol – Bristol is new to me author as is her Alien Mate series. This one popped up for free, so I grabbed it. Many other blogger friends have enjoyed the books and I can’t complain. I had fun with this first book and plan to read more. It was a quick read, nice world building, and good romance. If you like alien romances you might like this one.

Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep & Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep – For years now my blogger friends have been saying that I needed to read the Elemental Assassin series or anything by Jennifer Estep. Well I finally picked her books up this year and can’t be happier. I’ve loved all the books I’ve read so far in the Elemental Assassin series and her new Fantasy series, Crown of Shads, that came out was AMAZING too. So glad I deiced to give these series and author a go.
