At this point, I should be thinking about how sweet it is that my parents are getting married. Instead, I can only focus on one phrase, over and over. 

Don’t look down … Don’t look down … 

People talk about walking on a cloud like it’s a good thing. Right now, I’m learning the truth: Clouds suck. How do I know? At this very moment, I stand on a freaking cloud while my parents say their wedding vows a few feet away. It’s just me, Mom, Dad, and Verus, the Queen of the Angels who’s also conducting the ceremony. Oh, and there’s also some angel winging around with a fancy-pants video camera the size of a toilet paper roll.

Angels get all the good tech. 

But I digress.

We’re on a cloud. And the wedding is both lovely and being live-streamed into every TV set in Purgatory. How I wish I could process what they’re saying. But still, all I can focus on is not looking down.

Awkward.

At last, there’s a sweet moment where Verus pronounces my parents man and wife. They kiss and it’s crazy cute. Then—YAY—my escort angels show up again. For the record, these are my favorite people right now. Like Verus, they wear simple white togas with glittery sandals. But their job is to make sure I get off this freaking cloud without ending up a pavement pancake.
