There's never been a female on the Dallas SWAT team, and Senior Corporal Xander Riggs prefers it that way. The elite pack of alpha male wolfshifters is no place for a woman. But Khaki Blake is no ordinary woman. When Khaki walks through the door attractive as hell and smelling like heaven, Xander doesn't know what the heck to do. Worse, she's put under his command, and Xander's protective instincts go on high alert. When things start heating up both on and off the clock, it's almost impossible to keep their heads in the game and their hands off each other....

Wolf Trouble is book two in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team by Paige Tyler and Narrated by Abby Craden. Theirs danger, intrigue, and scorching moments.

I enjoyed this one a little better then book one. The heroine in book one is a reporter and I dislike reporters, but this time we get a female werewolf, the first the SWAT guys have found and seen.

Khaki didn’t get on my nervous, but I do have to say Khaki!! Really? I get unusual names, but every time I read this name I thought about pants. Also not one character mentioned or commented on her name. That’s unusual. Besides the usual name Khaki owns up to her mistakes, she’s funny, smart, independent, and resourceful.

Xander doesn’t believe in love or fate and is thrown by his attraction to Khaki. He’s close to his pack, teammates, and isn’t too thrilled to have a female on his team. Once he meets the new female his protective instincts go on high alert and he has to battle them and his attraction.

The world building was much stronger in this story. Book one lacked in that area, but her the world comes to life.

I liked meeting and diving more into the pack. We didn’t get much in the first book, but here we get to see more of the pack dynamics and it was great. I liked the interactions and felt they where believable. Theirs this deep camaraderie and real respect.

The sexual tension between Xander and Khaki is scorching. I like that they took some time to get to know each other and see where their feelings take them. Neither realizes what is going on and that leads to some funny scenes.

One thing that I noticed and this would have taking away a lot of the drama. Is that when a new wolf comes into the pack they should sit them down, whether male or female, and explain what the pack knows about werewolves, instead of leaving them and the team open for trouble. If this is done; then it would take away the confusion and also help the pack find out what the new wolf knows about being a werewolf. It felt like something the pack Alpha should do, but he didn’t do this.

One other thing that was a bit disappointing was Khaki’s ex-boyfriend. I was expecting more evil and more drama from this plot line, but he had no depth and his evil was eh! The ending was a bit too neat and tidy as well.

Narration: Abby Craden did a great job. I enjoyed the female voice, but some of the male voice didn’t sound so good. I’m glad a listened. I don’t think things would have moved along as fast for me if I read. The audio brought the action, learning process, and romance alive.

All and all I enjoyed Wolf Trouble and I plan to continue the series in audio.

Rated: 3.5 Stars
Narration: 4 Stars

  1. I’ve read a few of her books but I have to be in the mood for her in order to get into her books. Maybe it’s the military stuff that I don’t care for.

    • I feel ya. I haven’t been won over by her books yet and I have to feel in the mood to dive in. Thank’s for visiting!

  2. I’ve been reading her other series but hope to get to this one.

    • I haven’t fallen in love with this author or series, but I do pick up one now and then. I’ve read one book in another of her series and didn’t care for it. I’m going to continue with her. Not total put out, yet. I do enjoy the audios for the SWAT Special Wolf Alpha Team. Thank’s for visiting.

  3. LOL, I had the same reaction to the reporter heroine of book one. Never thought about Khaki’s name, but yeah that is distracting.

    • I never like heroines as reporters. I just read reporter and I’m turned off. Khaki the first time I read that I thought of pants and laughed. I still do. ^_^ Thank’s for visiting!
