Interview: Alexandrea Weis (Sisters of the Moon) ~ #BookTour

Posted on by

Hello and Welcome All!

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Alexandrea Weis author of Sisters of the Moon.

Hi Alexandrea, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I am a permitted wildlife rehabber with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, so when I am not writing, I am saving orphaned and injured wildlife or shopping for food to feed all the animals I have.

What are some books you have enjoyed recently?

I am a history geek, so I have been recently reading George G. M. James: Stolen Legacy, and The Egyptians by Grace Cole.

How do you relax?

I run five to six miles a day, and I pet a lot of furry creatures.

Sisters of the Moon

Please summarize the book a la Twitter style for the readers here:

A destitute Moor named Durra arrives at a convent where strange nuns tend to a collection of cats and protect an ancient secret. There, Durra will uncover an unearthly power that will change her fate and set her down a harrowing path.

Tell us all about your main character(s) — Who are they? What makes them tick? Durra, Leida, and Emily are young women who live in medieval Bavaria and are sold for taxes. They end up together at a remote convent on a strange island. They are three opposites. Where Durra and Emily have lived as slaves most of their young lives, Leida was sold by her family and is more innocent than her companions. Together they form a tight bond, with Durra being the voice of reason, and Emily the wild child wanting to break free of her shackles. It is when they work together, they learn about the secret of the covenant where they are kept.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

The first few chapters, where I set up the story and the characters. I love writing dark locales and making the convent come alive.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

Blending history and creating new werewolf lore were an incredible challenge.

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

At night, she combs the library for details on the order, the remote island, and the beasts howling outside her window.

But when a prank reveals the sisters’ gruesome secret, Durra is forced to accept a new fate. Bestowed an unearthly power, she must choose between life as a nun or living among the monsters beyond the convent walls.
