Paranormal Romance

The Constellaziogēns spawned the legends behind much of the human beliefs in astrology. Their world is full of magik, power, immortality and egos that tend to cloud better judgments. It's also full of honorable warriors who are sworn to protect the people of the Earth. Detective Sirius Baron is one of these warriors. He's desperately scrambling to cover up a rash of crimes that the humans are calling the "Zodiac Zone" abductions. Women are being taken based on their astrological signs, and the message is clear — the last hasn't been taken.

Phoebe Fisher's family has always been a bit protective of her. Though she knows that she and they have elements of the supernatural in their talents, she isn't entirely sure why. When she finds herself about to be the victim of the latest Zodiac Zone abduction, she is rescued by Sirius. The instant bond between them both scares her and scorches her heart. As she comes to terms with her special connection to the stars and begins to understand the mysteries of her past, Phoebe also learns how it feels to love and be loved — by an immortal.

Pisces Phenomenon is book one in the Zodiac Gatekeepers series by Many M. Roth.

I’ve read Many M. Roth before and really enjoyed her work. The Zodiac Gatekeepers has potential, but it needs polishing, grammar and spelling fixes, and more of a plot.

I found the Gatekeepers interesting, but we don’t really learn much about them. I also found Phoebe, her sister and cousin interesting, but again we don’t learn about them and what makes them different/special.

The author does warn that the story contains adult content and we are greeted with it off the bat and we get a lot of it throughout the story. Now I enjoy steamy scenes, but also want a storyline as my main theme and that is not the case.

The characters are interesting and lovable, but again they’re not fully developed and their powers aren’t well explained. Maybe we get more in the second book, but the first book is meant to introduce you, explain things, set it up, and grab you making you want to read on. That didn’t happen for me.

Pisces Phenomenon wasn’t what I expected and It didn’t work for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Rated: 1.5 Star

  2. I need more than a hot encounter to get into a book, too. The world of the stories sounds interesting.
