A massive flame roars to life. The townspeople have ignited the festival bonfire but it’s as if they too are in a trance like Oliver. A muffled shriek cries out from above and I see where Cormac has been moved to. She’s on the lighthouse catwalk. Ben is next to her. They’re both on their knees, hands bound behind their backs, and gags around their heads. Three hooded figures are behind them.

“Their shrieks are the same pitch as my ringing,” Molly says. “I can’t tell if there’s ringing inside my head right now.” Molly falls to the ground, gasping for breath through shock hyperventilation. Gordan runs over and helps her up.

Molly’s ringing would be louder than their shrieks based on her descriptions. I hope that means something good, I really hope. Looking back up I’m relieved to see that Oliver isn’t going to attempt to hang Cormac and Ben. Instead he’s given orders from down here to the three in hoods up there. They escort our friends back inside the lantern room and appear to lead them down the spiral staircase.

I need to attempt an execution ritual if the diary studies are accurate. I’m not sure why it was referred to as an execution ritual as it’s more like an exorcism. Cromwell has taken Oliver – our Oliver – hostage and we need to bring him back. We need to do this before anything happens to Cormac or Ben.

Dave, Gordan, and Molly all give me knowing looks. I’m glad Molly’s recovered and she and Gordan are back to fighting this evil. We pull out the items we need for the ritual and step closer to the lighthouse.
