As part of the Watchers, Rhys is used to all types of combat, pursuit, and interrogation. But hacking and tracking through hidden online channels is where he excels. Shattering codes and sneaking around firewalls comes as easily to him as a swordfight or street brawl with a predatory enemy.

Cooking up sweet new pastry creations is Enza’s dream job. Kitchen appliances never fail her, unlike every computer she’s ever touched. Her fledging baking business is doing well, yet as streetlights flicker with her changing mood, she can’t shake the feeling that she’s different from everyone else. But life as a regular Chicago girl is all she’s ever known…until one hot summer night.

Violence threatens both of them when her world collides with Rhys’s in a dark city alley. As a raw and formidable ability awakens in her mind, she becomes targeted by the last person she expects. Drawn to his sweet baker with a pull he can’t deny, Rhys vows to protect her—no matter the consequences that will change their lives forever.

I relish returning to the Watcher world. The verity of demons and the warrior Watcher’s are all delicious. Their was a lot to savor in Awakening Kiss.

The author dose a wonderful job explaining how the world, mates work, and all the different creatures, so if you have never picked up a Watcher’s Kiss book before you could grab this one and go. It reads well as a stand-a-lone!

I liked how the story started. Our heroin has no clue as to her heritage (who she is) and stumbles into a supernatural conflict. I have to say she took things rather well. It almost felt like she took things to well, but it was nice not to have to deal with an upset or over reaction from the heroin. Our hero, Lash demon, and Watcher is yummy. What can I say. Rhys is a scrumptious demon.

Rhys and Enza are drawn towards each other after that first run in. He wants to learn more about her and she feels a connection to him. When they end up having their first kiss… HOLY MOLY it’s EXPLOSIVE! As for the romance, it was nice and they make an adorable couple. I’m not sure I can buy into her trusting him so much after only one day. Trust takes time.

I had a delectable time and look forward to more in the Watcher’s Kiss series.

  1. Oh sounds like the world building is done really well in this one. It’s always hard to say how surprised or reluctant is a realistic reaction to learning about your heritage/ that the paranormal exists. They do sound like a nice couple.

    • I agree about the reaction. It’s hard to judge how some should act, I was just glad she wasn’t one of the over reactions, but I also felt it was just to easy for her to accept, maybe because we don’t go inside her head, I don’t know. I have been enjoy the Watcher’s Kiss world, its vast and a verity of creatures and directions things can go. Thank’s for checking out my review!

  2. Sounds like a good read. I don’t know that I’ve heard this series before. I’m going to have to check it out. Great review.

    • It’s a spin-off from her Solsti Prophecy Series, but the books so far can be read as stand-a-lone. The first book Tainted Kiss gives enough of a recap so you know where you are and the author builds the world. My favorite to date is Assassin’s Kiss, but have enjoyed them all.
Thank you. Maybe you will get a chance to check out Ms. Kay someday.

  3. I haven’t seen this one before, but it sounds fun. I am always up for a new paranormal/romance.

    • Ms. Kay is kinda new to me too. I started seeing her last year with her Solsti Prophecy series and was like hmm those sound good, I’d like to read. Well I did and then I had to try out her new series. Now I’m a fan and enjoying the Watcher world. I like it when I discover a new author or a new book I didn’t know about. Hope you get a chance to try her out one day. Thank’s for checking out my review, Heidi.

  4. I feel like I’m too rational for romance in general these days unless there’s substantial history between the leads.
    I’m getting old! Lol

I’m glad your trip to this world is a good one, we love our series and nothing is more disappointing than being let down by it considering writing these tales takes time so the waiting alone is a pain.

    • Our taste change as we get older. I use to love Young Adult books, but now I can’t get into them anymore. We still have our favorites, but we may need more or something different to keep us interested.

I agree with you about not wanting to be let down. We have have our favorites and when one falls short we get sad, but this one was enjoyable and the Watcher’s are an interesting bunch of demons.
