Happy New Year! Did everyone survive the Holidays and New Year, ok? I’ve still got family in town, but we made it into the New Year. Only downside is my hubby and son rang in the New Year with colds. Yep!!! Bummer for them.
Today we are looking back at our 2017 new year resolutions/goals. My goals/resolutions where very simple for 2017.
What’s my 2017 New Year’s Resolutions:
- To continue to limiting reviews and requests on NetGalley.
- To pick up books from the library. The library love challenge should help me with this one.
- To start and try to finish a new series; either Jane Yellowrock, Shadow Reader, or Elemental Assassin.
So, How did I do?
- I did ok with limiting my reviews. At the end of Dec. I had several authors I review for have books coming out, so I’ve got 6 review books to get too ASAP. As for NetGalley I’ve been staying off the site, only go their when their is a book I really really want to request, which they are rare. I’ve been waiting for books to come out, so I can get them at my library instead.
- I did wonderful with picking up books from the library. I picked up 67 books/audiobooks for myself from the library in 2017 setting my library card on fire.
- I started the Jane Yellowrock series. I haven’t finished the series and I’m on book 8. Still a ways to go, but I did start a new series.
I feel good about my 2017 goals/resolutions.
How did you do with your goals from last year?
Next week will be all about goals for 2018: What are your goals for 2018?

The Love for the Library sounds like a cool thing, I might look into this 😀 Seems like you did a pretty good job last year and am happy for you! I do think that requesting less and less ARCs on Netgalley can be really difficult haha but you’re going good so a big round of applause <3 I've taken up that challenge too and definitely agree that not browsing for titles all too often can help limit the number of books I end up requesting. Good luck for 2018 and loved this post!

Thank you, Fanna! I love the library. It’s the first place I look for a book; before I look anywhere else. I donate books, money, and of course I buy books at their bookstore which those proceeds go to the library. We also participate in some of the summer programs they offer too. The library is amazing. With NetGalley I’ve been good on not getting on and browsing. I do get emails from publishers now and then with a link to a NetGalley and I’ve been holding off, so far, even if I really want to click that title. I still have several ARC’s before the Holidays came I need to get through. It’s coming along, but it’s hard to not click away. ^_^

I love your goals for 2017! And you did so well with them! I too tried to check more books out from the library and it saved me so much money last year! I also love your goal to start a specific new series! I might have to adopt that one this year. I have so many series I’ve collected but haven’t started.

I have several followers and bloggers that recommend book series to me to try and I never get to them… Maybe I’m intimidated by them, who knows, but I made a point on setting a goal to pick one up. I started a few new series in 2017 and I still need to finish and/or get caught up in the books. The library is amazing. I saved over $700 on myself alone if I added in my son to that and all the kids books/movies we get it’s up to $1000 or so in savings. So my library is the go to first at looking for a book before I search other places. Thank’s Jessie for stopping in and I hope you have a fabulous 2018.

Great job on your 2017 goals! I really need to finish some series – and read some others. I did okay last year though. I read all of The Raven Cycle. I realize it’s only three books, but that’s good for me, since I’m AWFUL with series. hah

Good for you getting those older books read and limiting your requests. I am finally getting the hang of limiting my requests too and going back and reading all those that I didn’t read. I got so many books from my library last year. I don’t know what I would do without it. Have a wonderful New Year, Angela.

Happy New Year Heidi. I rocked my library card in 2017 and plan to do it again this year. It’s so hard to limit those requests, but I’ve been good and plan to continue into 2018. Thank’s for stopping in.

I actually don’t set any goals for any year. I’m always trying to educate people and make them aware of the butchering of cats and dog for meat and their fur for toys sold here like the small mice or the fur pom poms or dog chews that are really dog skins from China. Many humans have no idea this is done and in full frontal view of the public and children. Other times, I’m either reading or working.

That’s an good thing to educate people on. We are blind to a lot of things in the world. Thank’s for stopping in Mary.

Way to go with your resolutions! I haven’t gone back to read just what mine were, but from the looks of my planner, I haven’t been doing well with the ones I set throughout the year. I planned on expanding my blog reading circle, and I haven’t really done that. Sorry to hear about the colds. Not the way to bring in the New Year!

Never fun when anyone gets sick around the holidays epically with family in town. 2017 I stuck to my goals/resolutions well. I will continue a few into 2018 and add some others. Thank’s for stopping in.

I like the sound of the library love challenge, a really good way to support your local library. I must go and check out my local one again.

I was thrilled that I could take over the Library Love Challenge when the original host stoped doing it. It was one of my favorite challenges to do when I started blogging. Their is just so much you can find at your local library ^_^. Hope you will join us in the challenge. Thank’s for stopping in Rosie.

I had a great New Year’s Eve/Day. I spent it home quietly and then the next day we visited with friends from out of town.
Yay for doing great with your goals. I stay off NG most of the time for the same reason. You did great with your library reads. I need to do better about that.
Angela
January 2, 2018 at 3:58 pm
I rocked the library in 2017 and tried very hard to stay of NG and wait for the books to come out. I’m going to continue to do that for 2018 and hopeful rock my library more then in 2017. Thank’s for stopping in.

Great goals to have for sure. And I lovee going to the library. It is hard to limit ourselves to only so many books in ARC, since there are great options.
Angela
January 2, 2018 at 4:05 pm
The limiting for ARC’s is challenging. I had a bunch of my favorite authors who I review for all release new books at the end of the year and so I’ve got some catching up to do since I don’t get free time during the Holidays to read, but for the most part I did well on limiting. The library I rocked and hope to continue that into 2018. Thank’s for stopping in.

Congrats on achieving your goals. I never set any goals apart from my Goodreads goal as I never stick to them but this year I have a few I want to try like keep a bookish journal.

A bookish journal sounds like a great goal. Hope you achieve your goal for 2018. Thank’s for stopping in and Happy New Year!
