It’s Release Day! Alpha Challenge (Shifter of Ashwood Falls) by Lia Davis ~ #Excerpt

Posted on by

Instead of going straight to the nursery like her wolf wanted, Rhea stopped off at her house to change. Her clothes had mutant blood on them and she didn’t want the kids to see her like that. Once she passed her bathroom, she thought a quick shower would be great to wash the scent of mutants and rogues from her body. The kids didn’t need to know she was fighting alongside the enforcers and sentries.

It was one time. She was the den mother, not a sentry or Enforcer. She did what she needed to protect the kids. That was it.

After she was clean and dressed, she headed out to the nursery, which was a block from her modest two-bedroom home. When she stepped onto the road, Alec crossed the street. His apartment was two streets over and it didn’t surprise her he’d seek her out. It’d been something she’d gotten used to over the past year. She waited for him,

watching how his shoulder rolled with each step, a predator seeking out his prey. His brown hair was wet form a shower, adding a level of sexy that was all Alec.

He stopped in front of her and put his hands in his jeans’ pockets. “Hi.”

She chuckled and started walking. “Hi. I’m fine in case you’re wondering.”

They walked the rest of the way in a comfortable silence. Well, as comfortable as she could be with all the shit running through her brain. She worried about the kids and how they would react to her power now that it wasn’t hidden behind shields. She wondered what Alec was thinking and where it left them. She couldn’t exactly run from him anymore, and he’d have a lot of questions.

Before she knew it, they were standing outside the nursery doors. Rhea stared at the handles but couldn’t bring herself to open them.

“What is it?” Alec moved closer to her.

“What if they’re scared of me now?”

Alec stepped between her and the doors. He framed her face, forcing her to meet his gaze. “It’s not any different than my power or Blaine’s or Dad’s or Luna’s. Those kids will be overjoyed to see you. Their animals know who to trust and who to be afraid of. You will always be their den mother along with Robyn and Shay.”

He was right and she was being silly. Leaning her forehead to his, she let out a sigh. “Thank you.”

Kissing her forehead, he chuckled. “I was a pretty good Beta for a while.”

Some of her tension eased at his teasing, which was something very few people saw from Alec. She was among those lucky few. Taking a deep breath, she stepped around him and opened the doors. The buzz of children talking and laughing met her ears and filled her heart with love.

Feral. Unstable. Hungry.

Words that describe a rogue, not a den mother.

Rhea Scott has crawled out of the darkness lingering in the deepest part of her soul. Keeping her grounded are her pack, the kids she protects and cares for, and a partner she keeps at a distance. Mating with Alec would be a fatal mistake—he’d crash and burn with her if the darkness ever won.

Nothing will stop Ashwood leopard Marshal, Alec Andrews, from claiming Rhea. The stubborn female thinks she’s protecting him by denying the mating pull, but she’s wrong. He’ll tear down the walls she’s built around her heart and show her they belong together.

The war is supposed to be over, but a new enemy has risen from the fallen Onyx Pack’s ashes. After children are kidnapped, Rhea’s wolf goes into maternal protection mode and she won’t rest until the kids are home safe. No one is going to stop her, especially that hotheaded, sexy, alpha male, Alec Andrews.

  1. What a fascinating book! Great cover too. Thanks for sharing the excerpt.

  2. cover, excerpt and giveaway!! Shared on my socials!??

  3. I love series that are longer and you can get immersed in the stories. Do you see the characters throughout the series or is it just focused on one per book with an occasional drop in from others?

  4. Ok, this series sounds really good. I think I met Lia in Savannah last year and I might already have some of the books. But I really want this ebook bundle. If I don’t win I might have to pick it up at the $2.99 price for all 9 books. That is a great deal. Now if I could just read the other things I’ve already downloaded, I’d be all set!
