It was one time. She was the den mother, not a sentry or Enforcer. She did what she needed to protect the kids. That was it.
After she was clean and dressed, she headed out to the nursery, which was a block from her modest two-bedroom home. When she stepped onto the road, Alec crossed the street. His apartment was two streets over and it didn’t surprise her he’d seek her out. It’d been something she’d gotten used to over the past year. She waited for him,
watching how his shoulder rolled with each step, a predator seeking out his prey. His brown hair was wet form a shower, adding a level of sexy that was all Alec.
He stopped in front of her and put his hands in his jeans’ pockets. “Hi.”
She chuckled and started walking. “Hi. I’m fine in case you’re wondering.”
“Good.”
They walked the rest of the way in a comfortable silence. Well, as comfortable as she could be with all the shit running through her brain. She worried about the kids and how they would react to her power now that it wasn’t hidden behind shields. She wondered what Alec was thinking and where it left them. She couldn’t exactly run from him anymore, and he’d have a lot of questions.
Before she knew it, they were standing outside the nursery doors. Rhea stared at the handles but couldn’t bring herself to open them.
“What is it?” Alec moved closer to her.
“What if they’re scared of me now?”
Alec stepped between her and the doors. He framed her face, forcing her to meet his gaze. “It’s not any different than my power or Blaine’s or Dad’s or Luna’s. Those kids will be overjoyed to see you. Their animals know who to trust and who to be afraid of. You will always be their den mother along with Robyn and Shay.”
He was right and she was being silly. Leaning her forehead to his, she let out a sigh. “Thank you.”
Kissing her forehead, he chuckled. “I was a pretty good Beta for a while.”
Some of her tension eased at his teasing, which was something very few people saw from Alec. She was among those lucky few. Taking a deep breath, she stepped around him and opened the doors. The buzz of children talking and laughing met her ears and filled her heart with love.

I love series that are longer and you can get immersed in the stories. Do you see the characters throughout the series or is it just focused on one per book with an occasional drop in from others?

Ok, this series sounds really good. I think I met Lia in Savannah last year and I might already have some of the books. But I really want this ebook bundle. If I don’t win I might have to pick it up at the $2.99 price for all 9 books. That is a great deal. Now if I could just read the other things I’ve already downloaded, I’d be all set!
