Hello and Welcome All!
Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Tena Stetler author of Mystic Maples.
Hi Tena, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
How do you relax?
Reading when I get a chance. Taking my dog for a long wall, hiking in the mountains and camping during the spring through fall. Do a little Kayaking too.
What are some books you have enjoyed recently?
Sweet Tea and Sympathy by Molly Harper, Player One by Ernest Cline, Several of The Deerbourne Inn Series books by Donna Simonetta.
For your writing where do you get your ideas?
My overactive imagination and sometimes from events I witness stir my muse. Okay I admit that sometimes my dreams contribute to my books.
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult? I loved the Trixie Beldon series and Nancy Drew books growing up. Yep, I still have all the series on a special place on my bookshelves. Also love the Harry Potter books. As far as an adult, I enjoy Deborah Harkenss, Linda Howard and Molly Harper.
Mystic Maples…..
Please share a few Fun facts about this book:
Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose’s insatiable curiosity always gets her in trouble. Silvanus Forrest’s gypsy/fae heritage is a double-edged sword. When Mercy Rose can’t help but snoop in Sil’s renovated barn, she learns secrets that could change her life forever not to mention Sil’s.
MYSTIC MAPLES is part of a multi-author Deerbourne Inn Series set in Willow Springs, Vermont.
Before writing this book I researched how maple syrup is made from the sap of Sugar Maple trees. Fascinating process.
Please share the opening lines of this book:
How the hell had it all gotten so out of control? Mercy sat at the kitchen table of her beloved cottage in the Colorado Rocky Mountains staring at several purple wheeled suitcases tossed by the door. The warm golden rays from the sun spilled across the table. She slipped her hand in the bright patch. It felt so good.
A cheerful melody brought her out of her funk. At least that’s what her sister and business partner had called it. She picked up her phone and swiped the screen. “Hi, sis.”
“Gee, don’t sound so enthused. Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime?” Hope chirped.
Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book and why?
When Silvanus finally allows Mercy to see what is hidden in the old part of the renovated barn. She promises not to touch anything—Of course she does and her actions set into motion a series of events she has no control over and Silvanus has no idea what to do about.
Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.

With the Rocky Mountains outside her window, she sits at her computer surrounded by a wide array of witches, shapeshifters, demons, faeries, and gryphons, with a Navy SEAL or two mixed in telling their tales. Her books tell stories of magical kick-ass women and mystical alpha males that dare to love them. Travel, adventure and a bit of mystery flourish in her books along with a few companion animals to round out the tales.
Colorado is home; shared with her husband of many moons, a brilliant Chow Chow, a spoiled parrot and a forty-five-year-old box turtle. When she’s not writing, her time is spent kayaking, camping, hiking, biking or just relaxing in the great Colorado outdoors. During the winter you can find her curled up in front of a crackling fire with a good book, a mug of hot chocolate and a big bowl of popcorn.

GENRE: Paranormal Romance
BLURB:
Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose’s insatiable curiosity always gets her in trouble. After a break-in at her Colorado flower shop, and a court battle that comes to a screeching halt in her favor, she arrives at Deerbourne Inn for a much-needed getaway. Looking for peace and quiet, she finds just the opposite in a startling handsome but mysterious man and his dog.
Silvanus Forrest’s gypsy/fae heritage is a double-edged sword. The land he inherited from his parents is rumored to be enchanted. But when Mercy discovers the truth, his well-ordered life unravels, and they’re catapulted into the past to right a wrong. Along the way their lives intertwine, and they discover the true meaning of family and love. Will they change the past in time to save their future?
With her shoulders squared and a bounce in her step, she headed for Mystic Maples. Standing at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the wrap-around, partially screened in porch, the two-story log cabin looked as formidable as its owner seemed at this moment. At the front door, her hand raised to knock, she lost her nerve and took three steps back, turned on her heel preparing to sprint down the steps when a dog barked, and the door whooshed open.
Oh, no—breathe, Mercy, just breathe. “Good mmorning Mr. Silvanus.” She stammered. She’d forgotten his last name—wait—did she know his last name?
Eyes widened in surprise, he quickly schooled his features into a pleasant expression before commanding Raga to stay with a hand signal. “Good morning. Can I help you?” A beguiling smile curved the corners of his mouth and his eyebrow winged up. “Weren’t you my late-night visitor?” His eyes twinkled with mischief before he sent her a quick wink.
Wow, well trained dog. Feeling more at ease, but she could tell he wasn’t going to let her off easy—if at all. “Yes, I guess I was. I’m sorry to have trespassed on your property. I meant no harm.” She blew out a breath. “I’m staying at the Deerbourne Inn. But my reservations got mixed up and instead of being for six months as planned, the reservation was for two weeks. Then Nate talked to you and indicated you had a cottage to rent?”
He stared at her, the calm, blue aura was back. “And your name is?”
