When my family died at the hands of a demon prince, I hung up my exorcist hat. I’d failed to protect them, and while I was willing to risk myself, the price had risen too high.
Now I’m serving up hot, fresh pizzas to everyone who wants them. I was the only person left to inherit the family business and I’m doing my best to keep it up and running in honor of my loved ones. These days, my biggest challenge is telling off a rampaging customer, and endless paperwork. That is, until he shows up again.
Darius was the only guy I couldn’t say no to, the one who dragged me into the world of the occult in the first place. When he shows up and begs me to assist with an exorcism, I reluctantly agree. He’s still using me; because I’m the best exorcist around and he only calls when he needs my help.
Before I know it, I’ve got an incubus in the living room, a hellhound marking around my yard, and a demon prince who can’t decide if he wants to kill me or… you know. Not to mention the vampire and the Nephilim I seem to have collected. Normally I wouldn’t work with the supernatural, but we all have a common goal. Prevent the crime syndicate from summoning a demon prince and becoming more powerful than we can hope to handle.
If I can keep my cool, it will be a miracle. If I can hold on to my soul it’ll be an even bigger one. No one ever claimed being an exorcist was easy, but to protect those I’m coming to love, I’ll pay whatever price necessary.
This book is intended for mature audiences. 18+ readers only! It contains language and sexual situations. This is a medium burn reverse harem where the girl gets all the guys. Why Choose? Harem members added as series progresses.
The Price of Possession is book one in the Pizza Shop Exorcist series by Dakota Brown.
This was my first taste of Brown. I liked the concept of a Punk Rock Pizza shop owner getting dragged back into the occult and wiping the floor of demons. I found that interesting, but the book soon turned, meh.
To start Chris, our heroine, has a complicated relationship with Darius the X Best Friend and a past that made her give up being an Exorcist, but when Darius waltz’s back into her life and says; ‘I need help’, she shrugs and says; ‘ok’. This should have been a difficult decision for her to make.
The plot was lacking in many areas and we’re given the same information over and over again. Especially with Chris reflecting on her dedication to the Punk Rock look. Also it’s got very little character and plot growth.
This is a reverse harem romance and the relationship’s are fast and instant. I felt there should have been more sexual tension between Chris’s guys; the Vampire, the Incubus, the Demon Prince, and the Nephilim. Everyone was just so chill about the relationship’s. The first kiss scene is with the Vampire and it was HOT, but after that the sexy times with any of the guys felt mechanical and it became repetitive and boring. The romance’s feel into the pitfall of the men instantly in love with our heroine without any explanation as to why they are in-love.
I really want to like this one, but The Price of Possession was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Punk Rocker Pizza shop, what a hoot. I think the underdeveloped fast relationships is what turned me off of reverse harems a while back. I’ve tried a few authors and the first is developed and then the rest come quickly- and yes, most of the time the guys are cool with each other which didn’t seem plausible at least with all of them.
Oh well.

I still find now and then a reverse harem that is believable and works for me, but most have these issues I listed in my review. The concept sounded like a hoot and it was, but the reverse harem aspect killed the book for me. Thanks for visiting and checking out my review.
