Piper Addison
Please introduce yourself to our audience.
Hi everyone. I’m Piper, your local witch that can’t witch. If you’re wondering how someone who comes from a long line of powerful witches ended up with zero magical ability, I wish I could tell you. But on the plus side, I make a mean cup of coffee and trust me when I tell you, you need caffeine to live in Orchard Hollow.
What is your favorite type of coffee and why?
I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve been loving caramel mochas lately. It has just the right balance of sweetness and caramel goodness. Doesn’t hurt that the guy who came up with it is a tall drink of yummy himself.
What is your biggest secret something no one knows about?
Hmm. My biggest secret would probably be the very frustrating ghost familiar watching me as I type. No one can know I see her, or I’ll be run out of town. It’s bad enough I can’t do any proper magic without the added mockery of having a ghost for a familiar.
What challenges are you facing?
Well, the dead body in my café’s alley is the biggest one. Seems I’m a prime suspect so if you don’t hear from me, send bail.
Tell us a bit about your ghost familiar?
What can I say about Stella Rutherford? She’s stubborn to a fault, hates how I dress, and is a thorn in my side. She’s also the best familiar a witch can have. But don’t tell her I told you that or I’ll never hear the end of it.
Last, how do you feel about your author and the events that she has happening to you in your book A Grave Roast?
I mean, I could probably do with a little less murder. But I must admit, I’m learning my place in this town and where I fit as a paranormal. One thing you should know about Addison women: we are always up for a challenge. If catching a killer means I get my life back, then that’s what I’ll have to do.

Piper Addison has three problems: a broken espresso machine, malfunctioning magic, and a dead body. Guess which one she doesn’t see coming?
One month from forty, Piper Addison thinks she finally has life figured out. Sure, her bank account could be fuller and the cafe she opened with the last of her savings could use some help, but what’s a few kinks for an Orchard Hollow witch?
Too bad Piper can’t witch to save her life, which is exactly what she might need to do when a dead body is discovered in the alley behind her cafe. To make matters worse, all the evidence points to Piper and the local sheriff is not too keen on the town’s paranormal inhabitants.
When a mysterious envelope lands on Piper’s doorstep, she has a decision to make: go behind the sheriff’s back and try to clear her name, or spend her fortieth birthday in a prison cell.
A Grave Roast is a paranormal cozy mystery complete with an unlucky witch, a ghost familiar, and a feisty raccoon with a talent for getting into sticky situations.
