Korjh’s Bride

Intersteller Matchmaking #1
by Clarissa Lake
March 5, 2018
Science Fiction Romance

Zara Maples wants to escape her lackluster life and find her soulmate, so she applies to the interstellar Narovian Matchmaking Service which finds people’s soulmates based on genetics. Korjh a Narovian cyborg retired from battle, once a full human, longs a family of his own like the one he lost as a boy in an alien invasion.

Retired to a backwater colony of Modonne where he can’t get a date because he is cyborg, he applies to the Matchmaking service to find his genetic complement, his soulmate, because unlike Narovian felines he cannot recognize his fated mate. After two years they find him a mate on that “dirt” planet recently that recently joined the Alliance.

Cyborgs are dangerous, aren’t they? Only an ignorant human from a planet called Earth (translated as dirt) would come across two sectors to Modonne to mate with a cyborg. But to her he seems warm and caring and so attractive as they correspond. Of course, it can’t be quite that easy. While Korjh can be sweet and considerate, he can also be scary and aggressive.

Was he the man of her dreams or nightmares?

Korjh’s Bride is book one in the Interstellar Matchmaking series by Clarissa Lake.

Clarissa Lake is a new to me author and this title popped up on my FB feed as a feature. Since I have Kindle Unlimited I thought I’d give it a go. I like reading Science Fiction Romance.

I liked the premise which is an interstellar mail-order bride theme, but the execution was flat. What can I say except that I found the writing to be dry and boring. There are grammar and writing errors. The characters where monotonous. I wanted to enjoy, but Korih’s Bride was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Sheriff Bear

Bears of Pinerock County #1
by Zoe Chant
September 7, 2015
Science Fiction Romance / Paranormal Romance

This shifter sheriff is about to have his hands full trying to apprehend a sexy fugitive … who happens to be his fated mate!

Tara had read in books of people turning white with shock. At that moment, she found out what it felt like. All the blood left her head. There was a roaring in her ears, and her legs wobbled.

He knows who I am.

Which means he knows I’m on the run.

Any chance of smoothly covering for her awkwardness had shot right out the window when she froze like a deer in the headlights at the sound of her real name. And now Sexy Sheriff was getting up. And up …

He was so tall she almost expected his head to brush the ceiling. Even in her panic, she couldn’t help noticing how his broad shoulders filled out his uniform.

“Miss Malloy,” he said. He sounded regretful, and maybe a little choked, like he was fighting some kind of internal battle. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you to come with me.”

Tara threw the coffeepot at him.

Sexy Sheriff yelped and flung up an arm to deflect it. Tara swung around in a 180-degree turn and sprinted for the kitchen at a speed that would’ve done an Olympic gold medalist proud.

Sheriff Bear is book one in the Bears of Pinerock County series by Zoe Chant.

I’ve read Chant before and I love her Fire & Rescue Shifters and Fire & Rescue Shifters: Wildfire Crew series’s.

Sheriff Bear is a quick attraction/insta romance. I usually like this type of romance. I also like Chant’s writing, but I was bored and didn’t feel the connection to the characters.

I did like the premise, that our hero is a sheriff shifter, and our heroine is on the run and needs saving.

Sheriff Bear was not the book for me. Maybe I’m just not in the mood for quick insta romance at the moment. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Twins For The Alien Warrior

Alien Warrior Dad #1
Athena Storm
February 14, 2023
Science Fiction Romance

No alien prince is going to throw me on his shoulder and carry me away!

I don’t care that he’s technically rescuing me.
Saving my life multiple times doesn’t mean he can eye me up and down and lick his lips.
He can say we’re fated mates all he wants, I won’t give up everything just to be his pretty little housewife.

But then why is the only thing I can think of how much I crave him?

How badly I need him?
And how much I want us to be a family?

I used to be independent. Now I’m all his.

It’s enough to make me sick to my stomach every morning.
Its either that. Or it’s the…

Two little twins growing inside me.

Twins For The Alien Warrior is book one in the Alien Warrior Dad series by Athena Storm

Athena Storm is a new to me author and his title popped up on my FB feed as a feature. Since I have Kindle Unlimited I thought I’d give it a go. I like reading Science Fiction Romance.

I love the cover and the title. They are what caught my eye, but I wasn’t feeling the story. It was impossible to connect to the characters and the story. It just didn’t have what I was looking for.

Twins For The Alien Warrior was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

  1. […] Sheriff Bear –  DNF not for me. […]

  2. I had my eye on Sheriff Bear. Maybe I’ll do all right with it at some point, but I’m not in a rush to get to it.

    • I really enjoy Zoe Chant, but this unfortunately didn’t work for me. I have my eye on more of her novels. Thanks for visiting!

  3. Definitely want to check this out

    • Thanks for visiting!

  4. Sounds like a little bit of a slide trying to find something that catches your interest. It’s tough when a book isn’t bad, but just not engrossing. I recently DNF’d one for the same reason.

    • Yes I agree it’s tough when a book isn’t bad but just doesn’t engross you. I had a 3 book run of that, but I think I’ve found something. Thanks for visiting and Happy Reading!

  5. Love to read this
