Hello and Welcome All!
Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Elizabeth Isaacs author of The Scythian Trials
Hi Elizabeth, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Hi all. So glad to be here!
For those readers not familiar with you, would you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a teacher by day, writer by night and a dog lover at heart.
How did you choose the genre you write in?
I’m a fantasy girl at heart, and I love creating worlds where the characters are stronger and smarter than humans. It gives me hope for this world.
Where do you get your ideas?
I’ve found that ideas for stories come from different places. For the Scythian Trials, I was writing a historical romance and was wrestling with the fact that, within the western culture, women were considered property. And it always bugged me that the heroines were small, dainty, and portrayed as physically and emotionally weak.
That’s when I came across an article about the discovery of a Romanian mass grave that was believed to be the final resting place of Amazonian warriors. Something sparked in my imagination, and I set out to write a romance based on equality. One where women had agency and were revered for their strength, not their frailty. Thus, the Society was born.
What types of scenes are your most favorite to write?
I love to write scenes that allow the reader to stop and steep into the emotional angst of the characters.
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way whether growing up or as an adult?
When I was in college, I fell in love with Stephen Donaldson’s The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I believe the series is no longer in print, but I still find the occasional paperback in second-hand bookstores. His world-building solidified my love of fantasy.
Please share a few Fun facts about The Scythian Trials:
The Scythians are a hidden society of people who live among us.
They live by one credo: Strength through equality, power through knowledge and truth.
Their headquarters are in Romania, near the Carpathian Mountains.
Using just five words, how would you describe Hero and Heroin’s love affair?
Intense, passionate, complex, loyal, and rare.
Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?
I love the scene where Jax walks in on Nya while she’s changing. ?
Was there a scene in this book that was harder to write than others?
Some of Penn’s scenes were difficult to write because I wanted to portray him as a three-dimensional character that is tragically flawed, not some evil-for-the-sake-of-evil-douchebag.
Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview.
You are more than welcome! I so appreciate you taking part in the tour!

Descendants of the Amazons, the Scythians work alongside prominent governments but answer to no one. Warriors living on the fringe of civilization, they live by one credo: Strength through Equality. Power through Knowledge.
Nya Thalestris is the brightest Scythian of her generation. Strong, capable, ruthless, she is sure to earn a spot in the Trials, a time-honored mating ritual responsible for the evolution of her species.
Abducted by their sworn enemy, the Drahzda, Nya is forever altered and spirals out of control. The Society sends in Jax Nickius. Infamous psychologist and one of the most brutal warriors of their kind, he discovers triggers planted in Nya’s mind. As Nya solidifies her spot in the Trials, Jax develops a plan to help her heal—while pursuing her as a mate. But, Nya’s attraction to Jax is at war with her instinct to never let anyone get too close.
During the Trials, Nya’s repressed memories surface, revealing a new enemy—one from inside the consulate walls—and a traitorous alliance on the horizon that could irrevocably change the course of history.
Since before the Bronze Age, the Society has managed to safeguard humanity from itself … until now.
