Welcome to the third annual Library Love Challenge hosted by Angel’s Guilty Pleasures.
** For those that have joined the Library Love Challenge in the past would you please take a few moments to fill out this Questioner. I would love your opinion. **
I hope you will join me in celebrating and support libraries.
If you are like me then you like to purchase every book you want to read. And, we’ll that can put a hurt on your wallet. One way to help lessen the hurt is to check out books (prints, ebooks, or audios) from the library. If you do this then it will help save you LOTS of money $$.
Getting a library card in most places is FREE. So, if you love to read and/or listen to books then grab your library card and join the challenge.
[su_note note_color=”#f4cbe3″ text_color=”#000000″]Details:
Runs: January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019. You can join any time.
- Put a sign up post on your blog or (dedicate a Goodreads shelf or LibraryThing) and link it in the linky below. Make sure it’s public.
- The goal is to read at least twelve (12) books from the library, but you can read more. While twelve is the minimum, there is no maximum limit. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you.
- Any format will work for this challenge (prints, ebooks, or audios); as long as you checked it out from the library, it counts.
- Books can be any genre (fiction, nonfiction, romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, etc.).
- Crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed, including re-reads. The goal is to support your local library and save money.
- As an added bonus: I’m offering up a GIVEAWAY with this Challenge. Winner will be picked at the end of the year!! Their are a few freebie entries just for signing up to join the challenge and then the main entries throughout the year will be the direct links to your book reviews. You will have until Jan. 4th, 2020 to enter your reviews in the Linky/Rafflecopter. Go here to enter your reviews & the giveaway: 2019 Library Love Challenge Review Link-ups.
- (Optional) Mid-Year Library Check In: This year (2019) I plan on posting a Mid-Year Library Check In Post sometime in June or July. This post is to showcase what you have done so far in the Library Love Challenge. I’ll be offering up a separate giveaway for the Mid-Year Library Check In.
- (Optional) Reviews: Write a review to enter the giveaway – 2 sentences or an essay, whatever works for you, but there is a minimum of 2 sentences. Not sure what to write? How about something like, “The plot was a delight, but the characters didn’t capture me.” “I enjoyed the story and really liked the characters.”
- Please use
#LibraryLoveChallenge when sharing your reviews, library pictures, etc…
Levels:
- Dewey Decimal: Read 12 books
- Thrifty Reader: Read 24 books
- Overdrive Junkie: Read 36 books

Good afternoon. I’ve joined this challenge and I can’t wait to start logging more books from the library. Quick question though… I looked at the Goodreads group and it is for 2018. So when I try to log my book, it states that the challenge is over. Is there a Goodreads group for the 2019 challenge?

Hi Angela,
I came across this Challenge at Jan’s Notes from a Readaholic blog and knew it would be a good idea to sign up – I only read SIX library books last year! And we have a brilliant library that’s struggling to stay open with a Government only too happy to close it – not good enough! So I’m aiming to at least double that number and hopefully do better than that. Thank you so much for hosting this one:))

I’m in! I love the library, but have been neglecting it a bit recently, with all the ARCs I’ve been reading. I’m going for Dewey Decimal for now, and hope to increase the level later on.

December 13, 2018 at 9:31 pm
Hallo, Hallo Angela!
I am looking forward to this reading challenge because I have the tendency of checking out loads of books per year but reading less than half. Not due to lack of interest, some days/months its been lack of time. Other times I’m unsure why I haven’t read them. I started a feature on my blog #25PagePreview where I read the first 25 Pages of the books I’m borrowing to see which ones I want to re-queue to read in full, however, I’ve been slacking on those and want to resume them in 2019.
Overall, I’d love to read more of the books I’m borrowing and do more outreach socially online (ie. my blog and my Twitter feeds) to help others know how awesome libraries are right now! I’ve been a library girl since I was too short to carry the HUGE stack of library books out the library doors – it also inspired the tagline on my blog! (smiles) I also regularly do tweet / blog about asking for purchase requests and using ILL services (inter-library loans) as much as I talk about checking out digital audiobooks, CD audiobooks and of course print books (as I can’t read ebooks due to chronic migraines).
So in a lot of ways, this is custom fit for me!! I can’t wait to pull my ideas together to really start talking more about how much I love my local libraries and how awesome they are to help us reach our bookish goals per week/month/year!!
Thanks for hosting!
I liked my main challenge page – as the reviews I’ll post for this will start to thread under the banner I created for the challenge whilst I’ll also post links to my update posts, etc so its a page that will increasingly get more links/posts/info on it throughout the year! I’ll add my LibraryThing widget once I get several read (sometime in January) which will also visually show what I’m reading too!

Jorie,
I’m happy to have joining the Library Love Challenge. When I started blogging this was one of the first challenges I participated in (at the time it was hosted by another blog, but they dropped it and I picked it up) and it was lots of fun. It got me out and using my library more then I use too. Now I make it a point to go once a week and take a look. No worries on finishing every book you pick up. I’ve done the same thing. Picked up so many books, but didn’t get to them all. But, I wasn’t worried; because I can re-check them out or pick them up again at another time. I’m a mood reader and so what I read changes. ^_^
Looking forward to see what you do with sharing your love of the library. Have fun and happy reading!! ^_^
