I found this tag on Chapter Break, they found it on Hot Listens, and Books and Things.

Have you always listened to audiobooks or when did you begin?

No. I haven’t always listened to audiobooks. When Harry Potter came out I bought the CD’s for the car. Back then I was doing long road trips, so the CD’s where great. Back then that was all I listened too. It wasn’t until 2018 that I really got into audiobooks. I love being transported away into a new world and getting a whole new experience to my book love.

What is your favorite audiobook?

Favorite. I don’t think I have one. I did listen to my favorite authors/series and I loved the audiobooks. Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs. Kate Daniels, Innkeeper Chronicles, & Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. Now the ones that I’ve only listened too and not read that I’ve been enjoy are The Original Heartbreakers series by Gena Showalter and I’ve also fallen for Maisey Yates, Gold Valley series.

What is my least favorite thing about audiobooks?

I’d have to say when the narrator changes mid series. You get use too the voices and then a new narrator changes them and you have to get use too them all over. I’ve had this happen and I don’t care for the change. I’d prefer to stay with a narrator throughout the whole series.

What do you think is the difference in experience between physically reading a book and listening to it?

Each reading type creates different experiences and memories. They are two different paths that lead to the same distention. Reading is wonderful, but so is Listening.

When I listen I get to hear what the characters sound like or what the author/narrator thought they would sound like. When I read I have to use my imagination on what I think they sound like. With audio I sometimes get a deeper perspective into the world and characters or pick up something I may have missed in my reading.

Neither reading nor listening is bad. Both give me joy and transport me away.

How and when do you listen?

How1 I listen with my Hoopla or OverDrive apps from my library on my iPhone. I also have Audible. When do I listen! Anytime I feel like an audiobook. It’s the same with physical books I read when I want, day, night, morning, evening, etc…

What style/genre do you prefer?

I love Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy, but I’m finding that I also enjoying Romantic Suspense/Contemporary Romance as well.

What are some audiobook/narrator recommendations?

Narrator: Lorelei King – She does a fabulous job with the Mercy Thompson series.

Narrator: Renee Raudman – She does an amazing job with the Kate Daniels, Innkeeper Chronicles, & Hidden Legacy series.

Narrator: James Marsters – He does a wonderful job with the The Dresden Files series.

I’d love to hear from you!

  1. I think HP were my first audiobooks too. We got them when we were going on a family vacation and we wanted something everyone would enjoy listening to.

  3. Oh I loved the HP audios (the ones narrated by Jim Dale). And James Marsters is a GREAT narrator. He has done a few of Cassandra Clare’s books as well!

  5. What a fun tag. I started listening to books about a year ago and am really liking it. I think the peeve I’ve found is the one about switching narrators in the middle. I can see if they don’t work after the first book, but not after I’ve been used to them for several.

    • I’ve been saving this tag and one other for this month. I agree I don’t think I would have gotten hooked on audiobooks if it wasn’t for the bloggers I follow and that they enjoy similar books I do. Thank’s for visiting. Have a great weekend!
