3/22/2022: How do you choose what to read next?

I’m a mood reader.

I could sit down and make a list of what I want to read in that month, which I’ve done before, but it didn’t work out; because I read what I feel like reading.

When I feel like Cozy Mystery, Witches, Shifters, Alien Romance I find something in that area that captures me with the cover and the blurb. I also like to re-read a few favorite series. When I’m stuck or in a mood where I can’t find anything new to capture my attention I dive into old favorites.

The cover is a big part of helping me choose. They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but if that cover doesn’t capture me then I may not pick it up and read the blurb. The blurb is the next thing I read and if it doesn’t have what I’m looking for then I won’t go for it.

In choosing what to read it depends on my mood, cover, and blurb. ^_^

I’d love to hear from you!

  1. I’ve been trying to cater both to a list and to mood by making a list of reads for each week/month, but not filling up all my reading slots so I can also read whatever grabs me, too.

    • Nice.

  2. Most times I just read whatever is next on my Kindle unless I have an ARC to read.

    • ^_^ That’s a nice way to go about your reading. Happy Reading!

  3. I think I’d be lost without my list. Back before blogging and before schedules, I would go long periods without reading because I didn’t know what to read next. Now that I have a schedule, it makes me happy! 🙂

    • That’s great you can stick to a list/schedule. Happy Reading!

  4. Well I have a spreadsheet with dates of what I am reading and reviewing when. If I get moody I juggle the books around. But I am pretty good with sticking to my list, maybe because I choose review books I REALLY want to read or because I choose a big variety of genres.
