Hello and Welcome All!
Hi Karen, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
How do you relax? I’ll have a coffee or beer or glass of wine (time of day dependent) and sit outside if it’s warm enough and just watch the dogs play or stare at the sky. Winter days, I’m in front of the fire with a book or movie.
What is your favorite quote? I’m not sure I have one. Probably “brevity is the soul of wit.” It reminds me to keep the purple prose out.
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way wither growing up or as an adult? Believe it or not, one of the books that standout in my mind was Sweet Valley High! My mom refused to buy them for me, or let me take them out of the library, because it was not “literature.” So I would go to the Walden Books near my house and sit and read them in the aisle.
Why do you write? I write because I have a story to tell and characters that I really love in my head and I want to give them life, and share them with other people.
Do you work with an outline, or just write? I work from an outline. I never used to, and that was a big problem in my writing. I deviate from it, for sure, but I always find my way back.
So, what have you written? Tainted Blood is my second novel. Hell’s Belle was my first. I have written countless plays, however. And a bunch of really bad poetry.
Can you tell us about your upcoming book? Tainted Blood is the second novel in the Hell’s Belle series. Nina and her Blood Ops crew (they are basically a group of supernatural crime fighters) are trying to figure out who is trying to kill off the Providence vampire population by feeding them a tampered blood supply. As they chase this person down, they suddenly find themselves facing off with a formidable foe.
Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special? Nina is a vampire/witch hybrid —well she will turn into a vampire when she dies, right now she’s a living vampire, so she has some vampire traits, but is not as powerful. But because she has both vampire and witch blood in here, she quite possibly is the most dangerous supernatural creature to exist. Or so she’s been told. So far, she’s not exactly experienced it. Anyway, because of this, she is a marked for death. If I say anymore, it will be a spoiler!
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? I loved writing the first chapter of Tainted Blood. It played out like a movie in my head while I was writing it. I love it when that happens.
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book? Oh wow, I’d rather not say. I don’t want to jinx anything!

MORE ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Karen Greco has spent close to twenty years in New York City, working in publicity and marketing for the entertainment industry. Originally from Rhode Island (she loves hot wieners from New York System, but can’t stand coffee milk), she studied playwriting in college (and won an award or two).
After not writing plays for a long time, a life-long obsession with exorcists and Dracula drew her to urban fantasy, where she can decapitate characters with impunity.
Her first novel, Hell’s Belle, was released in 2013. Tainted Blood is the second book in the best-selling Hell’s Belle urban fantasy series.

After surviving a vampire assassin (not to mention an awkward affair with a hot FBI agent that ended worse than she could have imagined), witch/vampire hybrid Nina Martinez is reunited with the full Blood Ops team in Providence, Rhode Island. Her Aunt Babe is tutoring her in all things witchcraft, and her vampire partner Frankie is enjoying the benefits of daywalking, courtesy of a demon spell.
When a segment of the Rhode Island vampire population is marked for death by a tainted blood supply, Nina and her team race to find Patient Zero before the local vampire population is wiped out. But when a demon infestation threatens to take control of the city, Nina must join forces with newly elected mayor—and closet demon— Ami Bertrand before the city falls into ruin.
Filled with fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action, Nina and her group of supernatural misfits battle a surprising new enemy that threatens their very existence.
No wonder she still can’t get a date.
